As the post you quoted says. Read the first two post before asking questions. Everything you asked is in those two post.

There is absolutely no need for rude comments, I did read it for your information! but it didn't make much sense, so I was hoping someone ould give me a simple break down. If you have nothing nice to say, hold your tongue or resist from typing.

Does response to checklist normally get reviewed quicker than the entire package? IV package is complete, and AOS checklist response was received by them today.. (Such a stupid little error, my mother in law did by accident mix up the numbers on her 2012 tax return so it was a 1000 dollar diff from the form and the w2.. So stupid when the paystubs and her tax paperwork states her making over 120k a year.. And easily can support me if needed.

saylin has her own little picture she puts up and frequently tells people to go read the first two posts. I do this as well. You are the one being rude. If you need more clarity then be specific. If you have a hard time with these forms perhaps you should employ a lawyer.

In practice it does, marginally, but the operators will tell you 30 business days.

I called so much while our case was at NVC I started knowing the agents on a first name basis. We were not flagged for anything. I found all the agents I dealt with were all very friendly, some even had a personality.

same here i called like everyday and nothing happened or never delayed my case.

thank you, I have read through it multiple times but i am still confused. having dyselxia and irlens does not help at allwhen there are huge paragraphs like that, but im trying my hardest to understand as my hubby does not do paper work...so i am left to do it myself...i guess i will just wait to see what nvc say to me

Posted (edited)

Perhaps going through it step by step on the NVC website will suit you better. http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/approved/contact.html I'm not sure how we can break it down for you more easily than the wiki guides and flow charts provided do. Again if you have trouble with paper work and you USC spouse is unwilling to help you, perhaps you should hire a lawyer.

Have a nice journey.

Hi folks. We all get angry and frustrated with is process at some point. Let's try not to get frustrated at each other. We're all on the same boat. Some of us already knows where the emergency rafts are. Some have just boarded!

So, below is a summary of the entire NVC milestones.

OVERVIEW of the NVC process (from post 2)

- get case number and IIN, give email addresses over

- complete the online DS-261

- pay the AOS bill, once it's invoiced

- once the bill appears as PAID, send the AOS package

- pay the IV bill, once it's invoiced

- once the bill appears as PAID, send the IV package

- complete the online DS-260

- respond to any checklists, if applicable

- get case complete

- get interview date scheduled

- case is sent to embassy/consulate

After understanding the big picture, you will have to do some discovering on your own: find out what the acronyms meam, the steps you'll need to get to each milestone, documents, etc. Read this other overview, when you're ready for more info:

http://blog.mygcvisa.com/2013/09/nvc-consular-processing-steps.html?m=1

Now put some meat to those bones, by reading the rest of Post 2 (second post in this thread).

After that, you're going to come up with questions that are more specific to reaching your next milestone. Read Post 1 looking for answers.

I suggest you go slowly and not try to move too far ahead. It's just going to overwhelm you. (I found it helpful to handwrite the overview down)

THANK YOU!

For 2- Neither my income nor that of my husband will continue in the USA. Do I therefore click the "unemployed" box? Or maybe just leave it all blank and throw in a cover letter explaining that although I'm employed, I have to quit my job to move back to the USA and that's why I didn't list it? I've been filing my taxes for my foreign income, so I think it would look strange if I put "unemployed".

4- My husband could get another PCC no problem, it just takes a day off of work to do it. It's inconvenient, but not impossible. I'll have him do it once we get a case number assigned.

One more question- I plan on qualifying with assets instead of having a cosponsor. From how far back do I need bank records to prove money didn't magically appear?

THANKKKSSS!!! goofy.gif

2. Not too sure. Whatever you do, do NOT leave it blank. If you leave it blank, you'll get a checklist. Whatever you put though, it'd definitely be a good idea to explain it in the cover letter.

4. Depending how long it takes, I'd suggest waiting longer than from when you get the case number. If it's only valid for 30 days, wait until a few business days after the DS-261 has been submitted or when the IV bill is invoiced if it just takes one day to receive.

Not sure how far back is needed for assets with bank statements. You might just need the most recent statement, not sure. Does it say anything in the I-864 instructions?

Hey Salin

Well, I spoke to my wife about the idea of checking "no" and explaining that the vaccinations documentation will be obtained at the medical and she is a bit concerned. I've tried to explain that I have done my research and it is totally fine but she is worried that any thing that opens an explanation box could cause delays to our case. I'm totally ok with doing it myself as you've made it clear that it is ok, and I trust you :-), but I suppose its a joint decision!

Anyway we are still talking over what to do, but my wife wanted me to ask you something...

If we were to hold off submitting our DS260 until my medical which is on the 21st Feb (next Friday) do you think that will delay the case complete date by that much? Please note the following to help you made a judgement... They received our AOS yesterday, and the IV package was sent from me yesterday and will arrive at NVC this wednesday.

So thats AOS received 07 FEB, IV received 12 Feb. If I wait until the 21st to submit DS260 will it make much difference opposed to submitting it now in terms of the waiting time for case complete date?

In the meantime I will try and convince my wife that its ok to proceed now! ha

Thanks! You should definitely charge for these services!

Keep in mind, whether you check 'yes' or 'no', an explanation box will appear. I checked 'yes' and still had to provide an explanation on that question.

If you wait until after the medical on the 21st, then that's 13 days away. About 2 weeks. That's approximately how much you'll delay the case as that's when you'll submit the DS-260, instead of today.

So, try to convince her wink.png Otherwise, after the medical on the 21st.

And haha, it'd be awesome to get paid for all of this, but that'd be against the TOS, so :P

Hi Saylin

can you add me to the spreadsheet. NOA:Nov.18 2013. NVC received Dec 19 2013

Added! But since you don't have a signature, when did the NVC assign your case number? That's the date I need, not the NVC received date. And have you sent the IV package yet?

I got a QUESTION regarding AOS.

My wife is a stay home/part student hence I am the only one working. She petitioned for her mom. Do we have to fill out two separate I 864 with me signing one as a co sponsor? OR just one from me as co sponsor. Income wise, there no problem since I earn over what's required..

Thank you in advance.

Her: I-864

You: I-864A

The petitioner ALWAYS has to file an I-864 form, whether they have income or not.

Thank you for answering smile.png

It's been quite some time since our case has been sent over and she never even told us when NVC received it.

We would very much like to call NVC as well, the only thing that's holding us back is her statement that our case is gonna get flagged. Has anyone else ever heard of this? We were thinking to maybe just call NVC and ask if it is ok for us to check in on our case?

Unless you call like every hour on the hour, no, your case won't be flagged. I called once a day and had no issues. They do keep a call log, so they do know when you called last, what you asked. But they won't delay your case if you call daily. There's absolutely nothing to worry about. Unless you're rude and obnoxious. Then you may want to worry tongue.png

your DS260 is available online? you dont need to send any hard copy to them?

The DS-260 is an online form. No paper form. And as of September 1st, everyone is required to fill it out.

Hi..I have a question..if someone can please help me. Where do I look if our case is at NVC right now and we will be filing the I-601A waiver? What forum?

Here's the link to the waiver forum: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/113-waivers-i-601-and-i-212-and-administrative-processes-221g/
