yeah, the thing is - our lawyer advised us not to call them at all. She said if there's several persons inquiring about our case they're gonna flag our case or something, so we're pretty dependent on her and totally in the dark sad.png

I called so much while our case was at NVC I started knowing the agents on a first name basis. We were not flagged for anything. I found all the agents I dealt with were all very friendly, some even had a personality.

saylin im sorry i worded it wrong i meant case complete, case complete should be in 2 months, no? the longest wait usually is for the nvc number... no?

Depends on if you have any checklists or if they process your paperwork fast or slow. Each section can take up to 30 business days to review (that means up to a month and a half of normal time.) So add those up together that's 90 business days, minus any checklists so up to 4 months, if they take the full time to process and you don't have any checklists. So triple check your forms and documentation before sending it in.

Normally it only takes between 10-20 business days to check everything, but they will tell you the 30 day route. That 30 days resets when you have to respond to a checklist and is from the time they receive your documents to the time they finish the review. The NVC deals with almost 50,000 spousal visas a year plus give numbers and scan in fiance visas and other visa types as well. Patience is a virtue but at least you can make sure you do your paperwork correctly.

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.  - Dr. Seuss

I got a QUESTION regarding AOS.

My wife is a stay home/part student hence I am the only one working. She petitioned for her mom. Do we have to fill out two separate I 864 with me signing one as a co sponsor? OR just one from me as co sponsor. Income wise, there no problem since I earn over what's required..

Thank you in advance.

My husband and I are working with an immigration lawyer and she is basically handling all the paper work and paying the bills etc. We got our NOA2 on Dec 24th and are obviously anxious to get our numbers. We checked with her a couple of days back and apparently, instead of calling NVC she sent an email to request our number, which she says, is a lot faster than calling them. To me that sounds a little off, since everyone here just keeps calling them every day. Should we tell her to call NVC or does anyone here know that emails are regularly responded to? I just don't wanna delay our process unnecessarily

We've been burned one too many times by our lawyers. The current one didn't filed a change of address we requested... The previous one didn't re-schedule an I130 interview and didn't informed us until it was too late to do anything about it. That I130 was denied in 2012 and we had to start all over. I'm keeping a much closer attention to the process now, thanks to the information available here.

We're not/ won't be calling all the time, but at key moments. For example, I'm expecting NVC received our case in the past day or so. So my husband (the petitioner and a much calmer, nicer person than I :) ), will call on Monday. If it's not there, he'll call Friday. If NVC received it, we'll only call after about 15 business days to check if the numbers are ready (seems to take around 20). Those 15-20 days are the days I'll use to get the time sensitive stuff: police report, photos, a new passport and mail them to my husband. If we wait for our lawyer, he'll only tell us something's happening/ needs to happen when the processing fees are invoiced and only after that I would be getting the documents.

But we're calling. He's already hired, so he will continue taking care of things. But I want to follow my case as much and as closely are reasonably possible.

Thank you for answering :)

It's been quite some time since our case has been sent over and she never even told us when NVC received it.

We would very much like to call NVC as well, the only thing that's holding us back is her statement that our case is gonna get flagged. Has anyone else ever heard of this? We were thinking to maybe just call NVC and ask if it is ok for us to check in on our case?

Hi! I'm not sure if there's a better place to post this, or if it's ok to post something like this. So, please let me know.

Anyway, I'm test driving a couple of tools to help me put our bonafide evidence together. I've just used SocialSafe (http://socialsafe.net). This is a program you download on your PC or MAC that backups your social media (Facebook, tweeter, blogs, you name it).

With the premium account (free the first month) you get to save your postings on a pdf! Get where I'm going?!!! I've just saved several years of my husband and I exchanges on Facebook! Photos and comments! I'll need to do some trimming, but it's a really easy to use gadget!

Next I'll be test driving a program that saves... wait, wait... tadaaaa... Text Messages!

Please read through everything before posting questions as it's very likely that your question can be answered by simply reading through the links and/or FAQ.

Welcome to another monthly thread for NVC! In this first post, you'll find useful links as well as phone numbers/email addresses. In the second post I've compiled a FAQ and at the end summarized the NVC process.

**I've also included tax questions at the end of post two due to the US being in tax season and how this impacts the immigration process**

Note: Please keep in mind, since NVC required everyone to use the online DS-261 and DS-260 forms starting September 1st, 2013, a lot of the following guides have become outdated. Please use caution.

Here's some guides for those in NVC:

-How Do I Bring My Spouse to Live in the United States

-EZGuideSpouse

-LingChe NVC Shortcut

-NVC for Montreal Beneficiaries - Electronic Processing and New Online Forms

-NVC Electronic Processing [note: if doing EP in China, only optin AFTER the invoicing of the AOS bill]

And some other useful links:

-Country-Specific Documents (start typing beneficiary's country in search box, choose it, then click 'Go')

-Eligibility for Electronic Processing

-Payment Portal

-Online Forms Portal (site to fill out DS-261 and DS-260)

Hi my i130 was approved on February 6th...what do I need to get ready for NVC? I have police records and all my documents are with my hubby. Do they ask for payment then the documents/forms? or the forms and documents then the fees to be paid? also, what forms do they want? im so confused with what I need to do
