Doesn't matter, it'll show up in other names used as you fill out NVC forms (aka the ds-260.) As long as your passport is in your married name the visa and green card will be as well.

Thanx NLR,

And so if ever i have to fill out my ds-260, is it right that i would rather write the married name already and then my maiden name will be on the other names?

Well I basically called them everyday if not every other day week after NOA2 was approved (Dec 26th). Every time I called NVC, they mentioned they received it in the building on Jan 8th 2014, and it will take 20 business days to enter in the system. Finally this friday, when I called I was told they have it in the system and assigned a case number. Calling NVC, means a 30 mins wait.

yeah, the thing is - our lawyer advised us not to call them at all. She said if there's several persons inquiring about our case they're gonna flag our case or something, so we're pretty dependent on her and totally in the dark :(

1. I submitted all three years, and checked both boxes. No issues! That's what I suggest!

2. Is that income going to continue once you're back in the US though? Cause the question is only pertaining to income that you'll be using to qualify, which has to continue in your case if you're living abroad. The same applies to your spouse. They can only be included if the income will continue when they immigrate and you're using that income to qualify.

3. If you're not using your current income to qualify, then no, no need for an employment letter or pay stubs.

4. If there's no expiration date on the PCC, you can try sending it to NVC to see if they will accept it. But, they may know what you know - that it expires after 30 days. So, it might be a good idea to get a new one. And then possibly another one for the interview. How long does it take to receive a PCC there?

THANK YOU!

For 2- Neither my income nor that of my husband will continue in the USA. Do I therefore click the "unemployed" box? Or maybe just leave it all blank and throw in a cover letter explaining that although I'm employed, I have to quit my job to move back to the USA and that's why I didn't list it? I've been filing my taxes for my foreign income, so I think it would look strange if I put "unemployed".

4- My husband could get another PCC no problem, it just takes a day off of work to do it. It's inconvenient, but not impossible. I'll have him do it once we get a case number assigned.

One more question- I plan on qualifying with assets instead of having a cosponsor. From how far back do I need bank records to prove money didn't magically appear?

THANKKKSSS!!! goofy.gif

Yeah, I don't think that matters. I have called for 3 weeks and most likely got a different person on the other line. Until they have the case in the system, they will not even ask you questions. When you call and if the case is not in the system, they will simply tell you the case came in blah date and wait 20 business days. They do not ask who is it calling.

Once the case is in the system, before giving any information they will ask name of the beneficiary DOB and petitioner name of Birth. Since I got it only yesterday, they did not even ask who are you? lawyer, beneficiary or petitioner.

Again that is my personal experience, other people can share their experiences and if they feel any different.

Good Luck!

I really think that it is not a problem if you call to inquire, I used a service as well for filling out my paperwork and it caused my case to be sent out late. I suggest you keep yourself well informed about what is going on in your case and know every step of the process. Good luck!

Okay thanks... I need to find out that information then and yea I did file.

For part 7: do I need to do this even though I am using a sponsor? ($ in bank accounts etc)

Just for clarity, you are using a co-sponsor, you are the sponsor luv.gif

I'm sad and upset. So very confused. I got a message yesterday from USCIS saying this:

The last processing action taken on your case

Receipt Number: MSC1391229XXX

Application Type: I130 , IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN

Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production

On February 6, 2014, the post office returned your document I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN as undeliverable. If you do not contact us at 1-800-375-5283 within 180 days from February 6, 2014, this document will be destroyed and you will need to file a new application with fee.

Now today I got email from NVC saying they don't have visa petition that USCIS still has it after receiving two email this month that they did have my petition. Worse timing ever when I'm on vacation with my husband right now sad.png Have to wait until I go home to call to see what's going on. I hope this is an error and that my petition is at NVC.

Any update on this? I'm curious as to why you received an email saying the I-130 was undeliverable, as the impression I'm under from your signature is that you already had a notice that the I-130 arrived at NVC.

"If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you."

"Life is not what it's supposed to be. It's what it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference."

Nope, don't worry. They understand that not everyone has the vaccines; that's what the medical is for. And like I said, whether you say yes or no, it doesn't matter. As long as you have/get all the required vaccines at the medical, then you're golden smile.png

Hey Salin

Well, I spoke to my wife about the idea of checking "no" and explaining that the vaccinations documentation will be obtained at the medical and she is a bit concerned. I've tried to explain that I have done my research and it is totally fine but she is worried that any thing that opens an explanation box could cause delays to our case. I'm totally ok with doing it myself as you've made it clear that it is ok, and I trust you :-), but I suppose its a joint decision!

Anyway we are still talking over what to do, but my wife wanted me to ask you something...

If we were to hold off submitting our DS260 until my medical which is on the 21st Feb (next Friday) do you think that will delay the case complete date by that much? Please note the following to help you made a judgement... They received our AOS yesterday, and the IV package was sent from me yesterday and will arrive at NVC this wednesday.

So thats AOS received 07 FEB, IV received 12 Feb. If I wait until the 21st to submit DS260 will it make much difference opposed to submitting it now in terms of the waiting time for case complete date?

In the meantime I will try and convince my wife that its ok to proceed now! ha

Thanks! You should definitely charge for these services!

Only Manila and London allow advance medicals.

hi guyz,

They will send a case complete email about a week after the case is complete and an email about the interview date called P4. But you can find out both of these sooner with calling.

So hoooooow long does it take approximately to get a case number assigned? blush.pngwhistling.gif

Up to 20-30 business days after it's recieved by the NVC. Normally about 20.

It's about 2 months ON AVERAGE globally. But that's from the case complete date. You're not anywhere close to that yet. You still have packages and forms to submit.

Yup, the IV package doesn't contain any forms anymore and is just documents on the beneficiary.

FNU means First Name Unknown, so yes, it might be a good idea to call them up.

You can't just choose which ever amount you want from the tax return/transcript. It specifically states right in the question what amount they want. If yours is a negative number, then put it.

Doesn't matter at all. The visa (and thus the green card) will be issued in the name that's on the passport.

If that's all the checklist was asking for, yes, just fix that on the I-864 and re-submit.

Sounds like a false checklist to me based on them reviewing (and accepting) your IV package. Call up to confirm!

Do you claim the stepson on taxes (re: is he dependent on you)?

saylin im sorry i worded it wrong i meant case complete, case complete should be in 2 months, no? the longest wait usually is for the nvc number... no?
