NVC received my case on Jan 31st.

NOA2 Jan 21st.

still no case number yet, but I am glad to hear some progress.

I missed how long she said will take for case number because the call quality was not the best, and I was so excited to hear the news.

I know, this is not a big thing, but any news makes me excited after waiting whole these months...

Can someone explain to me why it's so hard for NVC to provide every case with a case number immediately after receiving it from USCIS? ClockWatch2.gifClockWatch2.gifClockWatch2.gif

They have hundreds, maybe thousands of cases and they all have to be manually entered into the computer by a human. When the info gets entered into the computer, that's when a case # is assigned. I know the waiting is extremely difficult but just try to be patient. We are all in the same boat. We all miss our spouses and want nothing more than to be with them. Hang in there. :)

Hi All :)

I finally was able to sign onto the DS-261.

Question, for the physical address that it asks for would it be better to put mine here in the US? If I don't put mine in the US, my husband wants me to put his sister's address because she runs a business and the mail would be a better guarantee of getting there than to his house address. (He lives in the Dominican Republic and the mail there is HORRIBLE) If I were to put his sister's address would that mess something up for the Visa Process?

Based on what I've read anyway it seems that NVC sends everything through Email anyway. I'm just afraid of when it's the consulate's turn to send something.

Thanks!!!

I would put your address. Especially if that's where you both are going to live when he comes. I'm pretty sure that's where they will send the green card. I believe that's where they think he will live. Your going to want the address where he is going to live on his green card. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm sad and upset. So very confused. I got a message yesterday from USCIS saying this:

The last processing action taken on your case

Receipt Number: MSC1391229XXX

Application Type: I130 , IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN

Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production

On February 6, 2014, the post office returned your document I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN as undeliverable. If you do not contact us at 1-800-375-5283 within 180 days from February 6, 2014, this document will be destroyed and you will need to file a new application with fee.

Now today I got email from NVC saying they don't have visa petition that USCIS still has it after receiving two email this month that they did have my petition. Worse timing ever when I'm on vacation with my husband right now :( Have to wait until I go home to call to see what's going on. I hope this is an error and that my petition is at NVC.

This is a great resource for us about NVC.

Quick questions, your IV checklist seems like it's written for bringing over a spouse. What would we include to briung over my stepson and stepdaughter?

No marriage certificate since my wife (now a USC herself) is the one petitioning for her kids.

Their birth certificates. Any other docs you can think of that would be helpful?

Thanks.

Keep in mind, pregnancy, unless it's high risk, is not a reason for expedite. It's worth a shot, but no guarantee.

Saylin,

1. Lets say my income for this year is exactly at the cutoff poverty line, (for the previous years is definitely under). However, to be safe I declare my assets, Will that cause any confusion or it is not a big deal?

I have flexxible hours at work so i am never sure about the amount sad.png And I am planning to declare my saving, checking accounts and my paid up property. Just want to be sure that my AOS is not short and want to cover all bases.

2. Whom should the employment letter addressed to? Is there a sample copy somwhere? I didn't see it in post 1 & 2 or if its there one, I am brain dead.

Hi Saylin, i made a mistake in ds260 of the country of my petitioner instead of usa i put philippines. do you think i will get an rfe because of this mistake?

Not sure, you'll just have to wait and see. If you don't get a checklist, make sure you mention this at the interview, so it can get corrected.

Hi all, me again!

A quick question on the DS260 vaccination questions. It asks if I have documentation to prove I have the required vaccinations etc. I currently do not but will be getting them at my medical next week. Should I say No, but will have at medical? Or just say yes? Which is the norm?

Cheers guys and happy Friday!

Doesn't matter which you answer (neither answer will get your visa application denied). Just answer what's applicable for your case. If you don't currently have vaccines and/or proof, then write 'no'. Most people who say no just explain that they'll get it all done at the medical. I answered yes since in my case I did already have all the vaccines and a vaccination record to prove it.

Hi All smile.png

I finally was able to sign onto the DS-261.

Question, for the physical address that it asks for would it be better to put mine here in the US? If I don't put mine in the US, my husband wants me to put his sister's address because she runs a business and the mail would be a better guarantee of getting there than to his house address. (He lives in the Dominican Republic and the mail there is HORRIBLE) If I were to put his sister's address would that mess something up for the Visa Process?

Based on what I've read anyway it seems that NVC sends everything through Email anyway. I'm just afraid of when it's the consulate's turn to send something.

Thanks!!!

As you've read, as long as you give over both email addresses to an operator, then all correspondence is sent by email, so the DS-261 is a moot form. Just put your US address, it's better, just in case NVC does mail anything.

The consulate doesn't mail you anything by the way. The last piece of correspondence you're going to receive is the interview letter from NVC.

I would put your address. Especially if that's where you both are going to live when he comes. I'm pretty sure that's where they will send the green card. I believe that's where they think he will live. Your going to want the address where he is going to live on his green card. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

The address on the DS-261 doesn't pertain to where the green card will be sent. That address is on the DS-260 and specifically states in the question that that will be the address used to mail the green card.

Thanks.

Are you referring to the "checklist" on post 2? If so, yes, since this thread is geared for IR-1/CR-1 visas, it's more for a spousal application. But most everything can still be applicable to derivative visas. You can find the list of required documents here: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/submit/documents-to-submit-to-nvc.html (obviously some won't be applicable).

Saylin,

Lets say my income for this year is exactly at the cutoff poverty line, (for the previous years is definitely under). However, to be safe I declare my assets, Will that cause any confusion or it is not a big deal?

I have flexxible hours at work so i am never sure about the amount sad.png And I am planning to declare my saving, checking accounts and my paid up property.

Nope, you can do income + assets to qualify, no problem. Just keep in mind, assets are only worth 1/3. To clarify: if you have $9k in assets, that's only worth $3k for the poverty guidelines.

Make sure you include proof of all assets you're including. Read the I-864 instructions again, specifically the part on assets, to make sure you've got everything right.
