My DS-261 was available today for both my petitions, completed immediately! Man that was tense... it's like I need a drink for every little step of the way jest.gif

When I try to sign in to "Fee Payments", I'm now getting the error message of my case being terminated. Thanks to this forum, I'm not freaking out!

Wait until the DS-260 :P

And that message is likely referring to the AOS being invoiced ;)

Unless I'm mistaken (or they've changed things again), I believe they removed the "day" requirement, just asking for month and year. If not though, an approximate guess is fine.

First off, I've yet to see a checklist for the DS-260, and even with the old DS-230, I never saw a checklist for "wrong" dates on employment/education. The only question where I've seen multitudes of checklists come from is the places of residence. If there's gaps or the first date isn't right, checklists abound. Although, the DS-260 is good at catching errors as I've heard it gives an error when dates aren't back to back in those cases.

Thanks for this Saylin. I'll just try and fill out the dates to the best of my knowledge. And yes, they do ask you the days as well as month and year for employment information.

Also, wanna make sure I answered this correctly... I put "no" to have I ever been issued a visa as I have only ever been there on holidays (90 day stamp). I'm right in assuming they dont count that as a visa hence "visa waiver".

Cheers Saylin

Ya, I wouldn't consider the VWP a "visa". The question is pertaining more to tourist/work/study visas.

So after calling the NVC almost every day and hearing that my application was received, but it could take 10 - 20 business days before I get a case number. Today when I called the lady says "It has only been two weeks since we received your case. It takes four weeks before you will get a number." The time line keeps getting longer. sad.png

20 business days is 4 normal weeks. :) Call every other day or every 3rd day. Sometimes you get nice people, sometimes you don't. Just be friendly and nice yourself.

When i submitted my ds260 two weeks ago, i didnt fill out the day part of my school dates, just the month and year, it didnt give me an error. I tried if i could also do the same with my employment dates and yeah, it went fine. It's probly better to leave it blank and maybe just explain at the interview (if asked) why you didnt put the exact date than just making a wild guess. That is of course if you have already exerted all efforts to find out the exact date and you still dont know..

Ok that's good to know, thanks.

I didn't try and proceed with the days blank as I assumed it would give me an error. I'll go back and leave it blank if I can't determine the days. I very much doubt they will be that concerned about finding out about an exact date that happended 9 years ago!

Thank you Saylin. And im wondering about the email why it didnt indicate about I-864? Which is my husband didnt meet the requirement.. They just mention about the IV payments.

Don't even worry about it.

One last question on the IV pack photos I promise!

When writing my name, case number and date of birth on the back should I list my date of birth is US style dates or the style of my country?

Thanks

TYorke1, I'm a USC, but I've worked overseas for years. I ALWAYS write dates in DD MMM YYYY order. MMM is the alphabetic month.

For example, I would write today's date as 6 FEB 2014. My birthday as: 10 APR 19xx (I'm not telling!).

Unless a form specifically gives you a format, using the dd mmm yyyy format makes SURE there is no confusion.

Filed: IR-1/CR-1 Visa Country: Nepal
Timeline

I have a question regarding the expedite process with NVC. At the pace that its going, I am in danger of running very close to my wife's due date when she gets her VISA. Based on the timeline on my signature, my best case scenario is an approval from NVC by the end of february and an interview date of April. By April my wife will be 6 months pregnant. Anything beyond April will put me in a severe bind.

Given the above situation, yesterday my lawyer emailed NVC requesting to expedite my application. As part of the email, he sent the doctor's letter with the details of pregnancy and all relevant medical information.

@Saylin, Do you know how long NVC usually takes to decide on an expedite request and what is a best case scenario here? Furthermore and most importantly, will by regular process be delayed if my request gets rejected?
