I wanted to ask why we have to call and ask for a case number? Our lawyer told us that now we have to wait until NVC will contact US to submit documents and pay fees etc.

You will be wasting weeks and/or months if you will just sit around and wait for nvc to contact you first. We have to be proactive and call them from time to time so as to save time and get a case complete quicker. Trust me, my friend wasted 1 and a half months waiting for nvc's instructions..if i didnt tell her to try calling, she wouldnt have known that her case number has already been assigned weeks ago and that she could already pay the AOS fee and fill out ds261.

I agree! I was thinking the same - Is the beneficiary allowed to call NVC or only the US Citizen? Will let our lawyer know that we will call and find out the case number.

Yap :-) Will start in 1 - 2 weeks. I guess it doesn`t matter if I give them my or my husbands email address right? Is California Service Center faster than NSC, TSC in shipping out approved petitions to NVC?

Hi Saylin! I need your expertise on this. Or if there is anybody out there having the same situation as we are. My USC husband petitioned me and my daughter from a previous relationship (not married). We are on the NVC stage right now and I am just making sure I have all the necessary documents for her. I have included in her IV packet the following documents.

Bar coded sheet

2x2 passport size pics

Copy of biographic page of passport

Original Birth Cert from NSO

A letter explaining the nature of the following documents below.

- Affidavit of illegitimacy

- Affidavit of Sole Custody

- Copy of Section 1. Article 176 of Executive Order No. 209, otherwise known as the Family Code of the Philippines

1 set photocopy of the above documents

Do I need to include an Original copy of my Birth Certificate as well as our Marriage certificate?

Please help! smile.png

Oh you should give them both your and your husband's email addresses, that way both of u will receive correspondence from them.. I have no idea with regards to who ships out faster, but i think TSC is the slowest? Not sure though.. :)

Saylin

one quick question.

i am in the process of getting the affidavits from family and friends. I thought to submit around 3 affidavits, one from my mom, one from sister who is a USC & a friend whos met my husband.

I have two cousins (usc)who are here on holiday, they know my husband too. Will it have more weightage if we get affidavits from USC over the Non USC.

Only joint sponsors provide proof of US citizenship/residency. The petitioner doesn't include this. And it just needs to be a photocopy; it doesn't need to be an original/certified copy.

Please read the I-864 instructions again.

Thanks Saylin

NVC website says, must submit NVC original civil documents.

That's why I was confused...

But photocopies make things much easier!!

Thank you for your help ;)

I wanted to ask why we have to call and ask for a case number? Our lawyer told us that now we have to wait until NVC will contact US to submit documents and pay fees etc.

don't wait for them to contact you, you contact them, just keep calling and calling.

I emailed NVC on Jan 23 requesting a status on my husband DS261. I received this email yesterday afternoon. Does this mean my husband case is on hold until they received my AOS packet? I mailed out my civil documents on Jan 14 and NVC received Jan 15. Also, I never received an email for the AOS checklist . I haven't sent out my AOS packet because am going to use my 2013 tax return to qualify without a co-sponsor. Am just waiting for my 1099 from my night job which I have been requesting a copy from them since last week.

"A letter was sent to the petitioner or attorney of record indicating the
Affidavit of Support requirement for this case is incomplete. Please
submit the requested Affidavit of Support form(s) and/or financial
evidence, as indicated on the checklist. The requested information must
be submitted to the NVC for this file to continue processing."
