Actually you're incorrect that you would have to give up any citizenship (unless required by that country) when you obtain US citizenship. Canada does not require you to give up citizenship and if you did, it would have to be in writing. Canada probably has some of the most lax laws in regards to citizenship as in even illegal immigrants may have a baby who is considered a Canadian citizen as long as they were born there.

The USA doesn't require you to give up any other citizenship you have to become a US citizen, it just requires that you put your US citizenship above all others (and legally you must enter and leave the USA with your US ID - so they "do not recognize" another citizenship but neither do they demand you denounce it.) There are countries, notably the Netherlands and Denmark, that do not allow citizenship to another country.

Yes you are right with Canada and US conditions of Citizenship and unconditional birthright citizenship. But as I said, as FILIPINOS, a natural- born Filipinos. Unless she is giving up her Filipino Citizenship. Because Philippines allows dual citizenship.

Though, renunciation of your Filipino citizen is a voluntary act. Under the Citizenship Retention and Re-acquisition Act of 2003, or Republic Act 9225, all Filipino citizens who hold citizenship of another country are not deemed to have lost their Filipino citizenship. The law does not require its citizens to renounce their citizenship if they wish to pledge allegiance to another country.

Renunciation is the voluntary act of relinquishing one's citizenship or nationality. It is the opposite of naturalization whereby a person voluntarily acquires a citizenship, and distinct from denaturalization, where the loss of citizenship is forced by a state.

I spoke to an Attorney regarding this when I was processing my daughter's citizenship requirement in Philippines and US and in my case.

My Journey:

March 29, 2013 :PD Dec-20, 2013 USCIS approval date July 28. 2015 (F) (F) (F)Interview Date APPROVED.

Just called NVC to clarify something about PCC required from India, She told me, "DO NOT send the Police certificate to the National Visa Center, your wife will bring that to Mumbai during her interview." I told her that the websites say PCC is required to be sent to NVC, she then tells me, "Sir, I am trying to help you, DO NOT send that to NVC, it will cause delays."

Thanks for giving good news I have been confused about this coz if we wait for police certificate it will take another 20 days so it saved our time. Thank you very much for good news

I got a different response. NVC rep told me that we have to submit PCC with IV packet. I believe we have to make sure before we move forward.

For those of you who submitted tax transcripts married filing jointly and are just using your own income-did you submit W2' s as well? I have my transcripts for 2011, 2012 and 2013. I have W2s for all years except 2011. I literally cannot find them. Would I be ok just submitting what I have or should I just send the most recent W2s with all transcripts? I hate guessing what NVC wants. :(

The ds-230 is no longer used. The ds-260 is used by everyone and you must put any names you've ever legally used under "other names used." Fyi visa comes in passport name and green card comes in visa name.

Guys I have 2 questions,

I'm the beneficiary living In India and my spouse is the USC petitioner living in California... My questions are,

1. Does the bar coded cover sheet for the AOS & IV packet appear immediately as soon as the payment is made, with a PRINT button at the bottom (like most online payment portals) OR do we receive the bar coded cover sheets, by a separate EMAIL which can be printed later at a convenient time?

2. Since I'm the beneficiary living In India, I intend to mail the IV packet to NVC directly from India. Can I get my wife's US credit card details over phone and make the payment on the NVC portal from India? Will there be any problems in printing the IV packet bar coded sheet if the payment is made using a US credit card from India? Has any one done this before and had and issues?

Can any one please throw some light on my above questions please?

What's the wording on the bar coded cover sheet for IV packet? Does anyone have a screen shot they can share please?

This information is given over the phone. So you must call them and ask

What's the wording on the IV barcoded cover sheet? Is it the same as the AOS barcoded cover sheet? Saylin do you mind sharing a screen shot? Thank you
