Oh hell that thought is exactly what is lingering in my mind right now.... Can you find those examples by any chance? I did mention it to the officer that I spoke to but I'm not at ease so I am calling back. They live in Northern Ireland near Belfast so it is definitely not the republic.... eff. rolleyes.gif

If you check the user Speedwell's timeline on this page you'll see the mistake documented about half way down.

http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=763942&page=4

If the applicants live in Northern Ireland then they have to go through the London consulate. I hope I'm wrong but I think this is another mistake from NVC.

I can't believe how they can make an error like this. It's astonishing really.

Bingo! I asked and the person told me that Ireland processes through the Dublin embassy. I told her that my parents don't live in Ireland. They live in Northern Ireland which is part of Great Britain. They use different currency and have a different government compared to Ireland. (They also talk differently :P) Fricking damn uneducated idiots! My parents WILL go through London. They don't understand obviously that NI is NOT IRELAND. Its the United Kingdom. Arghhhhhh! ####### and double #######. She said that it could take up to 30 days to change the case number but I can still go ahead with processing and will still be on the same time frame for paying the fee and submitting documents. I swear if this screws up my case even further, I will be freaking pis$ed!

Got mine 8 biz days after case number was available. It didn't let me pay both at the same time. I ended up paying AOS first, wait a couple of days then paid the IV.

Was the IV bill available only after you submitted the AOS documents ?

as soon as they received my AOS they opened the bill for IV.

So I understand correctly, for BOTH attorney and non-attorney cases, is it that AOS must be completed before the IV bill opens ?

That can't be true.

I thought WITH an attorney both the AOS and IV open up at the same time.

You pay them both and send them packets of documents later.

Saylin, can you chime in here for some clarity ?

Saylin should be able to better assist. I don't have an attorney and I am completing everything myself.

No. I paid both AOS & IV before I submitted any documents.

Maybe you would have better luck paying both at the same time.

IIRC, both IV and AOS were invoiced the same day. It could have been my browser (I only have access to Firefox) but I had to wait a couple of days after I paid the AOS bill for the IV bill to be payable.

Just out of curiosity, you COULD have paid the IV first if you wanted to.

Is that correct ?

Actually, for BOTH attorney and non-attorney cases, AOS doesn't have to be completed and reviewed before the IV bill gets invoiced. You might need to pay the AOS first (I am not sure) but there's no need to send the AOS docs at all if that's your preference.

My understanding is the DS261 needs to be completed before the IV bill gets invoiced. Having an attorney means we skip this step. Hence the IV bill comes at the same time as the AOS bill.
