Hello all,

My wife and I just received our NVC Case number today! Yay! We were approved (NOA2) on December 9, 2013 at the Texas service center and the case was received by NVC on January 17th, 2014 to give you an idea of our timeline. I have one question now hopefully someone can help:

I was able to log into the payment portal online just fine however when I logged into the consular portal (the one where I am supposed to obtain the DS-261) it gave me this message :

"Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time. Please contact the National Visa Center if you believe that you have received this message in error."

Any idea why? Maybe I just need to wait a bit longer for them to upload the forms? Thank you!

What... 2.5 months for a case number!

Pretty typical for a transfer to TSC. They take the longest to send the packages out. Just because you got the "Post-Decision" email doesn't mean your package actually left the building.

Greetings All,

Apologies for potential duplication beforehand.

Should we include an alien registration number in completing the AOS i864EZ form and if so where or how would one go about locating said A-number?

Our NOA2 does not provide an A-Number.

With thanks,

A-number isn't needed. Unless the petitioner or sponsor is/was an LPR they won't have one. Normally for the beneficiary this is assigned after you get the visa.

we got AOS & IV bill today. but my question is, why on IV bill invoice beneficiary's name is on maiden name? even i'm already using my husband's name ever since we filed I-130 and even on my passport name also. is it normal or it will affect on GC or visa production? thanks

It shouldn't affect either of those things because your passport is in married name. But you can call and ask them to correct it if you want

No it's not. Have a check from your account sitting in front of you so you can get the routing and account numbers off of it and it's super easy.

No you don't. That's a personal choice. I called them every 3rd day to get the case number, and not at all between getting the case number and until a few days after I sent both packages.

I probably called more often between case complete and interview date and that was every second day.

:) thats what we did. we called them everyday :)

i send a notarized copy, just because i was scared to send the originals. notarized copy is the one a notary/attorney notarized from india. they accepted mine.

Can some of the Indian VJ members who have submitted the IV package to NVC advise me whether it is a good idea to send the original Birth Certificate of the beneficiary to NVC? It is mighty hard to get another 'original' birth certificate from the corporation in Kolkata in case the original sent to NVC is lost.

Can we send a copy attested by a Gazetted Officer or Notary Public in India and carry the original Birth Certificate to the interview?

gazetted officer is not acceptable.

I send notarized copies i.e from a public notary. They accepted mine. It is ok for India.

You are right. as for india you can get the "true copy" from the issuing authority its not as hard as getting original.

Yes, they have a call log.

Hi Saylin,

do you have any idea what is purpose of the call log? Do you think they pay more attention to the cases people are calling more often? I am just curious about it.

Thanks,

They record that you called and why and how you were when you talked to them. Be nice and it's recorded. Be a jerk and they know. Call every day about nothing and they know. Call every hour and they know.
