Saylin,

Do I need to write the Case number on all of the documents for the AOS package? or is that just for the IV package.

I called NVC yesterday and the lady told me they received the petition on feb. 4, 2014 but it's not entered on their system yet. How can that process be done immediately? Or is this the time when they say that it would take 20-30 business days?

What are you trying to show? How much you currently make or that you currently are gainfully employed or how much you made in 2013?

1. Definitely not. An ITIN is only for tax purposes. It's not a SSN.

2. It's up to you whether you send them or not. As it states in the form, the other 2 years are optional.

God bless you saylin.

Hello everyone,

Our petition was approved in February 7th and we received a USCIS status update on the 11th saying that the case has been shipped to NVC. Does it really mean they shipped it? We called NVC yesterday and the lady told us our case hasn't been received yet (and told us it can take up to 8 weeks), my husband thinks it can't take that long to arrive if they really sent it on the 11th... Is this normal?

Thanks in advance.

No it doesn't REALLY mean they actually have shipped it. And yes it takes up to 8 weeks from approval date to get a case number from the NVC.

So the USC should call the USCIS and inquire with a tier 2 (only a tier 2) if the case has in fact been shipped to the NVC and what date it was shipped on.

Once the NVC actually receives the case it takes 10-30 business days (not including weekends, holidays or NVC closure days) to get the case numbers from the NVC.

Ok, I know that you've probably answered this, and I'm sorry if you have to repeat yourself. But I've read and re-read the threads and especially posts 1 & 2, and have a few questions for my particular case.

I live with my grandparents. I don't have a job because I have no one to watch my kids and child care is too expensive here. My grandparents could not claim me and the kids on their taxes for 2012 as we were still living in the Netherlands but they will be for 2013. I had them both fill out an I864A (ahead of time to make things easier later) as household members. I filled out the I864. In order to prove our relationship, I have a copy of my mother's birth certificate and her marriage certificate, and then I'll have them include a copy of their birth certificates (for their citizenship proof) and their marriage certificate.

Did I screw up here? I keep checking, and rechecking, and I'm still uncertain. It's not an emergency now, as I don't even have a case number yet, but if any of you who've gone through it could give me some clarity on this, I'd really appreciate it.

You and the head of the household (presumably grandpa) each need an I-864. Only grandma will provide an I-864. Grandparents, however, are not always a good choice, but it depends on their age and means. If grandpa is still working, probably OK. If he's over 80, it's kind of iffy whether he'll be around to fulfill any contractual obligation associated with the affidavit.

Thank you so much for your help!

We've already filled out the I864 for myself and my grandmother as Head of household, and the I846a for my grandfather. They're both in their early 70's, so will most likely be around to fulfill any contractual obligations. My grandmother makes well above the federal poverty limit from her pension, so I think we're good to go as soon as we get the case number.

Seriously, thanks again.

Hi Saylin - would you mind adding me to the spreadsheet? All my info you need should be in my signature, let me know if anything is missing - thank you!!

Added!

Please also add me to the spreadsheet

NOA 2 Approval 12/26/2013

NVC recvd Case : 1/8/2014

# assigned :2/7/2014 ( they did not accepted the emails as it was Friday and they just entered, so asked to call back on Monday Feb 10th to provided emails)

DS 261 Available & Submitted 2/12/2014

AOS Invoice Available & Paid 2/13/2014

AOS shows Paid 2/18/2014

AOS package sent 2/19/2014

AOS delivered 2/20/2014 ( shows via mail tracking)

Added!

One thing that I saw someone posting and a bit worries me, is the employment letter. I work for a fairly large corporation and they do not seem to have an employment letter. They have verification sites, which can be used by anyone. Does not really print anything

I have mailed paystubs for past 3 months. Not sure how to respond to a checklist requesting Employment letter

Any ideas/suggestions are most welcomed

Employment letter is optional. Did you actually get a checklist requesting for one or are you just hypothetically speaking?

Thanks Saylin...and I don't know if it matters, but my office was California smile.png I have to go learn how to make a signature lol

Changed. Thanks for letting me know!

Saylin,

question do I need to include all my pay stubs if each has a year to date amount on it? Or should I just include my pay stub from 2013 that shows the year to date amount for all of 2013? thank you

If you're going to submit a pay stub from 2013, then yes, just send the last one of 2013 that shows the YTD amount. Then send all of the pay stubs from 2014.

Saylin,

Do I need to write the Case number on all of the documents for the AOS package? or is that just for the IV package.

Thanks

Yes, it's suggested to do that for both.
