Hi!

I'm trying to call the NVC tp get the case # and INN, but it never connects (I'm using skype and it says it's busy). Is this normal? Is there a better time to call?

You will get busy signals on occasion. I used to set my alarm and called them right at 8am eastern time. It's also good to call in the late afternoon about 4pm.

I habitually get a ~15 minute hold time when I call NVC in the evening (although I get right through in the AM), and today I read this:

“In the call center industry, 10 minutes is considered a huge failure,” said Pete Hainey, president of Customer Elation, one of the largest call center operators in Minnesota. “No business would accept a 10-minute hold as their norm.”

I called the NVC to ask about my case that was approved back in December 18th of 2013. They told me that they have granted me an expedites request based on the hardship letter that I forwarded through my congressman. The only information they had for me is the issuance of a case and invoice number about a couple of days ago. When I asked about further steps, they said since I've been approved for an expedite, the case will be processed through the embassy in Amman, Jordan. I'm assuming I have to wait a couple of days for the case to reach Jordan.

However, does anyone know what's next or any of the next steps? Or what I should expect since NVC forwarded the whole case to the consulate in Jordan?

Once NVC tells you they shipped the case, wait about a week or so, then contact the embassy in Jordan. Give them over both full names, dates of birth, email addresses, and case number, explain your situation (expedite), and ask them for the next steps. It'll be likely that they'll schedule you an interview and you'll have to bring all documents then.

Omg just called NVC. my case is complete as of yesterday. I will call again later and tmrw to confirm again. tongue.png andi have to wait for official letter and interview date. Thank u guys. and Thank u God!!

Congrats! dancin5hr.gif

I'm not sure what happens in Jordan, but in Montreal;

everything is sent to the Consulate and you skip over NVC all together. You will get an appointment, and you take all your paperwork and pay your fees on the day of your interview.

Just checking in...Saylin, feel free to add our info to your spreadsheet if you'd like...all info is in my sig & timeline.

Mailing our IV package tomorrow & submitting the DS-260 tonight...very excited to be at the next "waiting stage".....I think thats light I see at the end of the tunnel! :-)

Lately when I call NVC around 10-11 am EST I get a busy signal for the first few tries. Then it goes through fine - usually wait on hold from 10-30 minutes. I just use my cell phone at my desk and put one of my ear buds in. That way I can keep working until someone picks up. My office is basically a cell phone free/no personal calls sort of place....but I can get away with this just because it is mostly on hold then the 1 question.

I know this is probably the most random question you ever got BUT I really need to know if it's ok for me to dye my hair a different color? I have not taken the pictures for the embassy interview yet, but I'm not sure if we send over any pictures already (our case is handled by a lawyer, so I don't know if she intended to use those for my interview).

Haha, please give me a 'yes' dancin5hr.gif

Wow, a year and a half early, lol! But ya, must be nice knowing this will be the last time you have to deal with USCIS. Hopefully it goes smoother than the initial visa process!

I need to ask about the documents required for NVC. We have been getting some different answers if we need to submit xerox/photocopies of documents like marriage cert, birth cert, etc? Or we need to send all originals to NVC for the IV docs?

Which one is it?

It's both. You need to include originals/certified copies, AS WELL AS a regular photocopy of each civil document. Please read: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/submit/documents-to-submit-to-nvc.html
