I did my research on SYG. It was used in the Dooley/James shooting. He invoked it, and had to explain what happened.

The incident of TM brutally assaulting GZ was investigated for 2 months (during which time you knew nothing about it because you really couldn't possibly care less about TM) After that time and after reviewing all the evidence the prosecution declined to press charges as they felt GZ had justifiably killed a person that tried to murder him.

This brought out the racial arsonists and hoplophobes who demanded that GZ be prosecuted. Candlelight vigils and increased hoodie sales...none of which happened for more than 2 months after he was killed in self defense while attacking his neighbor. They searched high and low and finally found a prosecutor with no ethics who avoided the grand jury indictment process. They then staged a show trial to satisfy people like YOU. (and sell commercial time on TV) All of the evidence you saw at the trial was known before the trial. It's called "discovery" and the prosecution must reveal all their evidence to the defense and the witness list and what the witness will testify to. They knew that DiDi was a lame witness that could not read or write and embarrassed her anyway...to please YOU. They knew the neighbor would tell of how TM was brutally assaulting GZ. They knew there was no witness to "who started it" they knew everything you saw. They knew GZ would be acquitted. I told you that before he was charged. They could not have convicted him for jaywalking!

Marvin, there was never any possibility that GZ would be convicted. None. Every step taken by the prosecution SCREAMED that from the beginning.

Most of life's disappointments are caused by unreasonable expectations. You expected GZ to be convicted, when everyone who knows anything knew he wouldn't be. You still try to argue it.

After spending millions of dollars and depriving a man of his rights for a year, you STILL are not satisfied. Who knew? And you want me to post the same proof....AGAIN? Oh, please.

Personally I am happy that the crime in Chicago has gone down. 92 less young black men were killed in 2013, that's good news for me.

Not really. A disappointed person may argue that to make themselves feel better but it really isn't so.

TM was on top of GZ pounding the ####### out of him and smashing his head on the sidewalk. Any person in that situation would be reasonable to conclude he was in danger of "death or severe bodily injury" and that is what is needed, ALL that is needed, to support the use of deadly force. Why invoke SYG which is a defense against the need to "retreat" when there is no reasonable way to "retreat" when you are being held down and your head smashed?

If you do not like the laws, CHANGE THE LAWS! SYG is entirely different than the requirement for the use of deadly force. GZ would have easily been justified to defend himself in ANY state (SYG law or not) under the circumstances.

As far as children go, Vermont is the safest state for children and everyone can carry concealed handguns. We have the lowest rates of child abuse, abduction and exploitation in the USA. Our children can safely walk anywhere in the city and never be bothered. Anyone over the age of 16 can carry a concealed handgun without a permit or license.

On the other hand we do have to worry about them drowning while playing in the crystal clear Lake Champlain or getting injured while snowboarding, storm kiting and stuff like that. Each place presents iots own challenges. Can you kids walk around anywhere in St Louis?

I chose to live here because it is a safe place for my family and a great place for an education for the children.

As someone who usually agrees with you, I would also like to see how CC helped reduce gun crime in Chicago? I call them like I see them and you are ducking that one.
