When you receive your interview letter you can request to reschedule it for another day. You will have to send them a copy of your ticket. Or you can just wait until you get back and then apply.

You cannot guarantee how quickly your citizenship application will be processed and you will then require a US passport before you leave. If I were you I would wait to apply for citizenship once you return. There is no major rush to apply for citizenship since you have your 10 yr green card.

I ended up with the first interview date when I was going to be out of the country in Asia on non-refundable tickets. I didn't think it would all happen in the 5th month. My attorney said you get one chance at a rebook and you better have a good reason.... We explained and I ended up with a date three weeks later.

They will examine your passport during the interview, but will not take it from you. You'll be able to fly as long as you make sure you don't miss any appointments without rescheduling. The only issue is if everything moves very quickly, they will take your green card at the oath ceremony, and you will have to get a US passport before you can travel. But as long as you haven't taken the oath, you're free to travel on your Turkish passport and green card.
