(CNN) -- Federal prosecutors say they'll seek the death penalty against Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, arguing that he acted in "an especially heinous, cruel and depraved manner" and lacks remorse.

The highly anticipated announcement Thursday means that when the case against Tsarnaev goes to trial, jurors will not only weigh whether he's guilty, but also whether he deserves to die.

For Liz Norden, it's one small step forward.

Her sons, JP and Paul, each lost a leg in the bombings, which killed three people and injured more than 250 at the April 15 race.

I'm not sure what to think of this. He did kill and injury lots of people. However the U.S. Is becoming the international monster of death tolls between Afghanistan, Iraq, Osama, death penalty and homicides.

If he gets the death penalty, it will be very interesting to see what the international community's opinion of us will be.

I say go for it. I mean, by the time he's actually put to death, most of us will either be dead, or too old to focus on the laptop long enough to argue about him.

Hmm not sure about that. The feds tend to be a lot faster than the States. ie: Timothy McVeigh. He got his fairly quickly. Granted I'd have to go back and research if he waived all his appeals or not I forget.

I agree and for me personally I am against the death penalty under all circumstances. As a matter of principle I don't think the government should have the right or power to put anyone to death.....and of course the social-economic, racial disparities in how the death penalty is applied. I don't think in the history of the U.S has a wealthy person ever been executed.

To me acts of war are different. You have two participants who have made a decision to fight each other with the intent to kill...not our fault one has small arms and suicide jackets while the other has aerial drones and laser guided bombs rofl.gif

In Tsarnaevs case he brought the war here and targeted civilians. I'm ok if the government puts him to death.

I guess I should have said against the death penalty in all criminal cases....in the theatre of war or engaging in acts of terror I feel that that is different. Whats so hard to understand

Bullet to the back of the head then send a bill to his family for the cost of the bullet.

Actually the death penalty is too good for him, it would end his suffering immediately. Put him in a cell all by himself and keep him alive until he's about 90. No tv, no contact with the outside world, no window, etc. Solitary confinement. Let him think about what he's done.

We should be kind and understanding and try to make him see the error of his ways and try to get him to repent from the evil life he has chosen. We should forgive him and show him mercy. That is the the true Christian way, what Jesus would do. But it seems impossible for us as humans.
