Hello, I searched on the site and did not find an answer on this.

Are you required to do your Medical Examination at St. Lukes Medical Center in Manila? From reading I guess the answer is yes.

My fiancé wants to get her xray done from her local doctor ahead of time. Can you do this and what is the benefit?

What is the best way to go about the medical examination?

Thanks!

Yes, you can do this BUT it is only for your personal reference. The embassy ONLY recognizes SLEC manila for the medical. Now, the good thing in having an advance medical check up (which we did) is that if there is something wrong, you can use the time whatever it is needed to be treated rather than sitting and waiting for your actual medical appointment at SLEC as it can slow you down. We got advance check up as we were worried about how strict SLEC is especially with the lung xray. As several members have shared their experience, even the slightest doubt with a SLEC doctor that the beneficiary might be infected with tuberculosis, the applicant will have to undergo a sputuum test and if tested positive, it can delay your process from 2 to 6 months depending on how much time it will take until the beneficiary is cleared.

Ok that sounds like a good reason to do a pre medical exam.

Thanks!

It's not only smokers who get "spots" or "haziness" in the lungs. Even those who doesn't smoke nor have history of TB may get a "suspicious" xray.

I know someone (non-smoker/no TB history) who had a chest xray from a hospital and it shows up "clear" but when she had the xray at SLEC, the result was "hazy" so she was subjected to do the sputum exam.
