An 82-year-old woman who had been forced to drop out of high school following a bout with acute appendicitis finally got her diploma this week, the Patriot-News reports.

Grace Bomberger received an honorary diploma from Hershey High School in Hershey, Pa., on Monday after school officials heard about her remarkable story.

Bomberger grew up on a Pennsylvania farm. To get to school, she "had to walk two miles to a bus stop, take the bus to Campbelltown, and then switch to a trolley for the rest of the trip to Hershey."

Congratulations Ms. Bomberger, you earned it.

I just re-read the article. I thought she went back to school and received it.

My great grandfather got his GED at age 80. His old school sent him a "diploma." He was pretty proud of it. Kind of interesting that I know the name of my great-grandfather's high school.

That's something to be proud of. Not so much an honorary diploma IMO.

So if you got an honorary doctorate you wouldn't be pleased?

What I just learned. Guy Kawasaki has a LinkedIn (of course he does) and he lists his honorary doctorate from Babson in his Summary section but not in his Education section.

Ahh, good plan. Though... what is a summary section?

And I found another honorary doctorate, again not listed in the Education section but this time buried inside the description of a job.

Joop received an honorary doctorate as a cultural entrepreneur from Nyenrode Business University in the Netherlands

That concludes my research into the burning question of the day, "Do people include their honorary doctorates on their resumes?"

The answer is a conclusive YES, if they're a douchebag.
