I was born in China and emigrated to Canada on 2003 and am now a Canadian citizen.

My husband (who is a Canadian and British citizen) has a US green card and I am currently in the process of also applying for one. I am currently a resident of the US and had a H-4 visa.

The USCIS has requested I provide my Chinese birth certificate. However I don't have one and have never had one.

I think I need to try and get a Chinese Notary Birth Certificate but don't know if I can get one from China while I am in the US. If not where else can I get one from and how?

I've been trying to read information on all of this from the internet but its confusing and conflicting and I've not found anything definitive.

Has anybody been in a similar situation?

Thanks

P.S.

My mother and sister still live in China, would they be able to apply for a Notary Birth Certificate on my behalf in China? What is needed to apply for one?
