Thank you very much for your reply. I've read quite a bit about the statement of reason, but I am really confused. I'm not sure if I should talk about marriage and changing status in this statement of reason, or if this should just be a statement about career in the US as the samples I've seen are. If any has any advice that would be a great help.

I think the reason could be somewhere along the line of

"I am requesting a waiver of the two-year home residence requirement based on No Objection Statement (NOS) from the XXXXX Embassy in the United States so that I am eligible to file a marriage based adjustment of status application in US"

Maybe a consultation with an immigration attorney could help you out and word the statement of reason in such a way that it sounds more appealing.
