Jessy L.I can't change my phone number.I am using this number for 10 years already. Starting at 7pm tonight I am going to turn off my phone , and during the day,and weekends I won't take any phone calls anymore, that's the only way I found to continue here.

good ))

You can also make the group of phone numbers that are allowed to call you after hours (at any time) and who are not.

I suggest you also use the google voice (they give you separate phone number, or just calling through online, it is free and no one will have your personal phone number.) So you will be able to contol it.

Today she came back from the hospital and told me the heartbreaking news. She's got AIDS.

Now her all hope is wiped off. My heart just goes out for her.She used to anxiously wait for her case to be approved so that she can take care of her mom and grandma...

Does she has AIDS or HIV?

If she just got it probably it is HIV (AIDS is the final stage of HIV)

Cheer her up, having HIV is not the death sentence any more. People live long and productive lifes with HIV. With proper medications and prevention of opportunistic infections she is looking on 20–50 years.

If she has been diagnosed with AIDS and the treatment will begin right away, life expectancy is about 10–40 years. Educate her and yourself on it!!

Please, do not put her in the ground beforehand! She needs a positive outlook on life and her prognosis and thoughts of "hope wiped off" is not good because it is not true!!!!

ANA-STAS my last case waiting for so long they adjudicated a few days ago, it took 18months. Did you go to infopass? did you contact your congress person?

Thank you so much for your reply.

I e-mailed VSC (no luck), wrote a letter to vawa unit, contacted ombudsman and was told my case is actively being reviewed, inquired congressman a few months ago and was told that my case is under security check amd there is no timeline for that:(

I have never been arrested, have no criminal history. Have no idea why it takes so long.

I did not go to infopass as was sure it will not help as my case is in vawa unit. Was I wrong?

P.S. no status updates since receipt date, no RFE

Leilabird my cousin's husband has HIV since 1992,and he has a normal life, and a friend of mine in Brazil her son has HiV as well, since 1998, he is doing great. Study shows if the patients starts treatment before their CD4 count falls below 350 cells/mm3, they will have the same life expectancy equal to an uninfected person. Pancreatic cancer average life is just 8/12 months, only about 4% of people diagnosed live for at least 5 years, then having HIV today is not a death sentence, specially if you compare with other diseases. Advise your friend to find a HIV support group. Unfortunately regarding her immigration case if USCIS finds she is not able to support herself financially, they may consider she is likely to become a public charge, and deny her GC.

ana-stas GO TO INFOPASS, I saw so many cases adjudicated right after the person went to infopass. But do not get there saying how many things you did or contacted, just tell your case is pending 16 months and you want to know what's going on with your case and where is your case now?. If your case is already with the local office then ask if you can speak with the officer handling your case?, just filed Vawa over 16 months, and you are seeing people having their cases adjudicated in 60/90 days, and you would kike to know what's happening with your case.

Make sure they have your address updated in their system. If it's not with local office yet ask the infopass officer to put an request to find out why the delay in your case, and do not forget to ask where is your case.
