I had an immigration attorney but she treated me really bad she and her assistant. She kept asking me for money all the time, otherwise she wont answer or meet me. I decided not to use her anymore but she refused to give me my prima facie or receipt. She said that USCIS sent it to her and I should have my copies but I dont jave any. I contacted USCIS they said that they dont duplicate. I dont know what to do and Im scared that she may harm me or call USCIS. Please help

Eidon draft and Notarize a letter to your attorney saying she is not representing your case any more And you ed to contacted her several times to get copy of your file, and she refusd to give copy of the documents that Uscis mail her, such as prima facie etc.mention it's your last effort to have your documents, and she has 48hours to give you the document or you will represent her to the Bar ASsociation. In your letter include Uscis address as well, and then she will believe that you wlll file a representation against her .

Thank you sandranj that is reassuring to know. So it appears that biometrics expire after 15 months and it is 16 since I did mine. Will I receive a new appointment notice in the mail to go and get new ones done? She didn't tell me what to do about that, all she said was good luck regarding her supervisor and the divorce decree issue when she showed me out. She had tried to call someone earlier in the interview to see if someone was available to do fingerprinting that day but her calls weren't answered and she didn't mention it again or if there was something I should do.

37shells Uscis may send you a letter to do fingerprints,,despite I saw some cases they issued the GC with expired finger prints.

You mentioned that you want to take the kids to England to visit your family , do you have the father's authorization to travel with the kids abroad? Even if the kids use British passports they will need the father consent to travel abroad, ,if you don't have yet ,and he is not willing to sign the authoriZation, you should file in Court asap a petition asking the judge to travel with your kids, considering he is the children's father. By the way in August I am going to England (London)to visit my 5 nieces .

My divorce attorney asked the court to include in the final order authorization for me to travel out of the country with the children. There dad has objected to that final order - I don't know what he has written in his objection because I havent seen it but all his prior objections are just to do with objecting to the divorce itself. But he has shown the court time and time again that he is unfit to be a parent - at the last hearing he walked in an hour late wearing sunglasses with a lollipop in his mouth and told the Magistrate that he was high on narcotics and living homeless in his van. The supervised visitation center where he was allowed to see the children have refused to let him in there any more because he couldnt follow their rules and they had to have extra police there any time he went. The restraining order is on behalf of the children too, and he has refused to take the batterer's intervention class that the court ordered him to take, and he has not completed the parenting class either. When the Magistrate asked him at the last hearing if he had any proposed parenting plan he just started laughing and made racist comments about the Magistrate. So i do believe that they can see for themselves why giving me that authorization would be a good thing for the children but i still have one more court date to go to. You will love London! There is so much to see and do there!

Dear Sandra.

I am also from Brazil, been here for ever, and I have had a very hard situation with immigration before. Now I was granted vAWA and applied for 485 last february, I did biometrics in NOLA last 20th of March. I am waiting to hear from them, I know it takes time, but how long time? My attorney said its within timeframe, What would be your opinion? Obrigada.

37 shells sorry for your ordeal waiting is not fun,

I had my interview not to long ago, I can tell you I ran into a very strict officer too stern, ,had my lawyer not been present i tell you i believe i would have been denied, were you accompanied by a lawyer, i left with an eerie feeling that i was not approved, but lo and behold, two weeks later i received a greencard, so keep it cool say a prayer look for the divorce paper and all will be well.

God bless

Yayyy Dominique, Congrats  . I got mine as well. I think it depends and you can make a judgement call if you need a lawyer or not. Mine was pretty straightforward, had all proofs of bonafide marriage and abuse and no complications. My lawyer said I didnt need him and I went without him and had no issues. Questions were pretty simple and straight forward as I posted. As Sandra mentioned too that unless until you have any arrest or restraining order, you dont really need a lawyer. Good luck everyone

Thank you Dominique - and congratulations to you! I did not have a lawyer - that was the first question she asked me when i went in. I did not feel as though I needed one because it was a straightforward case with no issues and I had made it this far without one. I will keep everyone updated as and when I hear anything from them.

Congratulations to you too donehere!

37 shells, if the only discrepancy is on your ex divorce which God knows why it was brought up, go settle it with the help of your attorney, you will receive a letter to go for fingerprints then when all this are received you will have your green card, there is no reason to deny you as long as your 360 was approved.

when i went to my interview they said my fingerprints were not in the system the officer said it would take her 4 days to put them in the system then process my card, so don't give up just keep hope, trust me all will be well.
