End of the road for me....received notice of approval for I485.

interviewed last week but IO was not 100/ sure due to changes in procedures in her office.

journey started Sept 2012.

Vawa approved August 2013 (after refer. for emotional abuse )

Sandra helped a lot with redrafting affidavit....psych drafted a great report for emotional case)

Transfr in October 2013 ( local office and back and local office again. ) Did 2 infopasses, always same answer : busy working on lots of files.

Notice for new fingerprints July 8th 2014

Interview letter for date of August 19th.

Interview : asked for medical ( had not sent one with application ), new pictures, passport ( asked if I have travelled recently ..negative I said) ....asked 6 Yes or No questions . .Asked if still married ...yes I said , no money for divorce yet.

We had a misunderstanding about the financial affidavit. My notice said not to worry because of vawa status but her supervisor insisted on one being filed. which she was kind enough to print and help me fill out.

Very friendly woman. She apologized for not giving me an approval on the spot but said she was 99% sure I would get it, just wanted to check with supervisor if anything else was needed.

Good luck to all. Be safe .

Hello everyone. My vawa was approved, I'm still married, and now my husband wants a divorce. Before I was told it had to be a fault divorce or something, does it matter now? Can I just let him deal with it, sign whatever he sends me and be done with it? Thanx!

MeEe to have a Vawa approved or AOS approved based in extreme cruelty you don't need to have a a fault divorce at all, but you DO NOT SIGN anything if he is filing a "fault divorce",usually fault divorce is based in grounds such as cruelty, adultery, desertion for a specified length of time, physical inability to engage in sexual intercourse etc...

Been reading a lot about divorce yesterday... Not sure if that's the place to ask about it but maybe someone had to deal with this kind of stuff... So appearantly all the debts that we got during marriage go to both of us. I'm sure there was nothing when we lived together but not sure about him since I left. How can I be sure that I won't be responsible for anything after we divorce? Thank you for help, Sandra and every one else, and good luck!

Just guessing here, but maybe since you submitted the I-485 AOS form, you don't get it since you're already on the track for a green card.

A country of Immigrants, that hates new Immigrants... Maybe if education was a right and NOT a luxury, it would be different.

missymd not everyone gets deferred action. USCIS sometimes approve Vawa with deferred action, even when the alien does not request deferred action.I request in ALL vawa cases. The Notice of Deferred Action means that immigration authorities will not try to remove the self petitioner from the United. You filed AOS already, you are good, don't worry about it.

If they did not issue deferred action then you can't ask to renew.

Sandra thanks alot, you,re such an inspiration to all of us...I,ve never done any application by myself,l always use lawyers and I,ve spent almost $20,000 since my immigration journey started. Two weeks ago l applied for my EAD renewal with a fee waiver, last week l received a receit notice that the fee was waived..if l had my lawyer do it for me he would have charged $500 money that l didnt even have, but thanks to this forum and everybody who gave me advice on how to go about it,..still waiting for my I485..
