Hello!! Congrats on all the approvals! I had my i485 interview today n thought this will be end of it. But the need more time to review my case, like two plus years isn't enough lol:). The officer didn't ask for any documents besides my id, no passport no I-94 nothing! He just asked me questions from my i485 application. Then another officer came in and told me that officer that been asking me is in training, therefore he will be asking some questions. He drilled me about the marriage and abuse. Was trying to "trick" me with the dates going back 3-4 times over a date saying it wrong trying to see if I'll correct him. I was caught off guard because I thought they aren't supposed to ask questions about vawa n marriage. I don't think he was satisfied with my answers, but I tried explaining the first officer after the other one left that, this has been over 4 years and vawa unit worked on this case for two years; I've sent so much supporting documents and all. So yeah this is my story, idk if I should worried that they would deny me, but I don't see how they can after my vawa has been approved and I established that marriage was in good faith. What you guys think? And advice/ideas?

naptimes everytime the officer is new then he/she can't adjudicate without the supervisor review, probably in 2/4 weeks they will approve your case. They can ask question regarding the marriage, but not regarding the abuse. In situations like that the alien should tell that he/she can't ask about the abuse anymore since the abuse was was.adjudicated by Vawa unit,if the officer insists the alien can ask to speak to the supervisor, and just tell the supervisor the officer is asking questions about the abuse and he/she can't ask about it.

Thank you Sandranj. Yeah the main officer that started interviewing me was in training. But is it likely for them to not approve it if he wasn't satisfied with my answers? (The 2nd officer that is not the trainee) I didn't say anything wrong just kind of scatter brained.

naptime the local office is responsible to check inadmissibility such as fraud, misrepresentation, public charge etc regarding Vawa cases.Their decision is discretionary, but once Vermont approve they will issue the GC, as I said before just in case of inadmissibility they can deny.

Hi Sandra, I'm noticing a lot of people getting their vawas approved very quickly and without rfes. Is this a new trend?

A country of Immigrants, that hates new Immigrants... Maybe if education was a right and NOT a luxury, it would be different.

Is it safe to travel with a vawa approval and AP? After overstaying?

Even with an approved Vawa and AP, I was told that it wasn't safe to travel if you accrued over 180 days of unlawful presence. I've read of a case where a person overstayed more than 180 days and was allowed back in to the USA with AP, but I have heard of many cases where people were refused entry. It is really at the discretion of the CBP/DHS officer at the port of entry, but I wouldn't risk it if I were you. You might even be subject to a 3/10 year ban from the USA

Per Matter of Yerrabelly and Arrabally, the three and ten year bars no longer apply to a pending adjustment applicant who departs and re-enters on Advance Parole.
