So then S. Korea is even more crime ridden than we thought. If you want to avoid crime...move to Vermont. If you are too skeered to carry a gun or do not have the knowledge to do so, at least your family will be safer than where you live now. If your plan is to "call someone else with a gun" I would think your family might insist on living in a safe state.

If Korea is anything like Japan, you cannot rely on crime statistics based on crimes reported, reported being the key. Rather than embarrass the government with unfavorable statistics, crimes are dealt with, but not "officially" recorded as having occurred.

That is what happened across the pond also...They just don't report crime in many cases.

Not true. The court order required IL to accept the permits issued to IL residents by other states and the out of state permits issued to residents of other states immediately. The day after the order there were tens of thousands of IL residents and visitors carrying concealed. Both my brother and oldest son do so and have been since 2012.

So Spooky, what do YOU think is the reason that S. Korea has low crime?

2012 homicide rate in S. Korea was 2.6/100,000. In Vermont it was 1.3/100,000 You are twice as likely to be murdered in S. Korea. The total crime index in S. Korea is nearly 5 times higher than Vermont.

Where are you getting your S. Korea 2012 data? The only thing I found shows them down around 0.0 for 2012. Korea averages around 10 gun deaths per year normally. With a population of 50 million, your rate above would equate to about 1,300 gun deaths in 2012. I'm not seeing that ANYWHERE on the interwebs.
