I was talking about clinical terms. Like depression, schizo(sp) etc.

As to your second paragraph, that could very well be what happened?

Maybe, who knows. You'll never fix everyone.

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

Schizophrenia? No way.

There are many people in this country who think that a gun is appropriate for anything and everything. There are people in this country who think that being slightly scared warrants shooting a gun instead of saying, "Hello?" There are people on this forum who believe this. There are politicians who defend this right and super PACs who buy their votes.

From where I am sitting, this guy is the same as all too many people in this country. News and politicians help with the hysteria, all funded by the NRA to people will buy guns and give profits so the gun manufacturers who fund the NRA.

This makes me long for the movies where a yokel comes out in his overalls with a gun, but has the wherewithal to say first, "Get off mah property."

That's what I don't get, why he didn't talk before shooting. In England if you trespass on a farmers land at night he'll at least have the good grace to say "get off my land" before lowering his shotgun.

Maybe the victims were eating skittles dangerously...

There is an extreme level of fear being pushed by the gun lobby and maintained by gun owners. When you believe the boogie man is coming, common sense has long been lost.

It's surprising that this isn't more common. If the law allows for gun owners to shoot at anyone who makes them feel their security has been threatened regardless of whether the person poses an actual threat then this is the inevitable result. All he has to do is argue that he believed the intruders were trying to get onto his property and that he felt that his safety was in jeopardy and this is legal homicide. As the gun aficionados keep telling us, why shout a warning if that warning will mean we lose our advantage?
