This is a bit complicated.

I am Canadian and my girlfriend and I had been living together in Thailand for the past 28 months, where she was working for a US aid organization. She is a South African citizen. She was transferred to her organization's headquarters in Washington, DC on an L1 visa for 3 years.

We had already been planning to get married.

My question is:

As a Canadian visiting in the US, can I marry my L1 visa girlfriend in the US and then apply as an L2 dependent?

My gf has a very good executive position and her salary would cover both our expenses easily.

You ask two different questions. Can you marry in the US? Yes.

Can you then apply to be a L2? Yes.

Can you stay after you marry as a L2? I don't think so.

AOS for my husband

ROC:
