The ACA was named Obamacare by the motley crew. It would be disingenuous to pretend otherwise. In fact, Obama himself said that Obamacare would no longer be called that the moment it succeeded. In regards to comparing Obamacare to socialized healthcare, that is a sophomoric notion proven wrong so many times it is amazing anyone is still regurgitating it in public. Are you sure you are not listening to rebroadcasts of Limbaugh's radio show? He already said all that you are repeating, and it was all disproved already.

I also find it amusing when people talk about 'hundred of years of traditions and customs' [sic] when speaking of a country which is not even 250 years old.

In summary of the main topic, I would argue that most owners simply didn't comply. Creating unenforceable laws that that majority of owners don't follow creates scofflaws. It weakens the rule of law in general as people lose their respect for government authority. For instance under the 21st amendment a top notch attorney became a major dealer in criminal activity.

Also, IT IS important when discussing a gun control law to get the mechanics right especially as these laws deal with specifics of firearm construction.
