I do not see why it is my responsibility to pay for others bad choices in life. Eating habits, sexual partners, hereditary traits, uncontrolled reproduction, gender reassignments and other conditions that are most likely manageable with individual self-control.

It is not your responsibility. Insurance is just that - others also pay for your bad decisions. Incidentally, what does that have to do with the topic?

That's a very stereotypical view.

Oh and I don't know of any case where the government paid for someone to have a sex change.

I don't want to pay for roads in California.

Global warming will put California underwater in the future so that may solve that problem for you.

I'll take that bet.

"U.S. District Judge Mark Wolf is believed to be the first federal judge to order prison officials to provide sex-reassignment surgery for a transgender inmate."

Seems like the exception rather than the rule. Still something I personally don't agree with. But I don't believe that this is common practice.

I see what your saying, but on the other hand! If you asked me about same-sex fiancee visas back in 2009, I would have asked you who your dealer was and his contact info!

True. I'm pretty surprised that went thru. However, if you remember, USCIS visa processing never closed during the govt shutdown as they are being paid thru us submitting processing fees. I would have assumed it was supplemented through taxes before, so I was pretty surprised by that announcement.

That should serve as evidence that speculation is just that... Speculation.

I am always amazed at how many people opposed to gun ownership do not even have a clue about the basic operation and construction of firearms in general.

Well, when he thinks you are "waisting" your time, what did you really expect?

Yes, we are told they are paid thru our fees, but if that's the case why are we not given the customer service we would demand of any other company we deal with. Why are I-130's for spouses and children under 21 being processed twice as fast for Permanent Residents ( 5 months ) as they are for US citizens filing for the same type petition. ( currently processing March 2013 ). I believe it all boils down to politics and potential voters in future elections after naturalization.

Who's opposed to gun ownership? I'm not.

I don't own a gun nor do I give a rats ####### whether a magazine is considered ammunition or not. It's completely irrelevant. The fact that you gun aficionados insist on pointing out these little tidbits rather than focusing on the fact that guns kill over 35,000 people per year is what amazes me.

That is not a fact, but fiction. PEOPLE kill a lot more people than that. A lot choose to use guns.

Don't believe me? Watch...

I can't say I have any internal information for the discrepancy. I'm not sure I agree that's it politically motivated. That would require pretty strong commitment and skill to keep on the dl. Something I have yet to see much of from either camp. Much easier to convert voters through re-districting or hyping issues on the national stage with the sole intent to polarize people. There's so many "true believers" on the left and right at this point, I'd have to say it's working quite well. Edited by GandD

Yes, you are right that it would require commitment and skill to keep it quite, but then it took 2 years before it was discovered that the IRS was targeting TeaParty and other conservative groups. So it is not out of the realm of being possible considering all the other scandals this administration has been involved in. We have a president that doesn't know nothing about anything when he is asked, and he has a professional liar that deals with the press corp and networks, so anything is on the table as far as I am concerned.
