I got the same email on 22 December. It sucks so much. I have no idea when it will be rescheduled. I am just going along for the interview anyway - apparently some people who received this email before didn't go to their interview and it turned out the local office had no idea it had been cancelled and sent out a deportation notice to them.

This is the new USCIS policy. They will not schedule an interview until your FBI name check has cleared. They are doing this to limit the number of law suits filed by people attending an interview only to be told they cannot be approved until the name check clears. See, Congress has mandated that the I-485 be adjudicated in a reasonable amout of time and they defined "resonable" to be no more than 180 days after interview. So the way USCIS works around this is not to schedule intreviews. the bastards.

where have you seen the memo that this is already in effect? i may be wrong, but i believe this is proposed only at this point.

we received a notice to attend interview, then an email to cancel, then a notice to attend, then ANOTHER email to cancel, but cited a totally diff day. We went to the 2nd sceduled interview. They did not have an explanation for the 2nd email.

I have not seen a memo. This is what an officer told me when i went for an infopass to inquire about my case. He said its not an official policy, but its what they have been doing lately.

well it's possible, however many are not doing that yet - otherwise people would not continue to be added to the namecheck list.
