I don't agree the punishment is fitting. Setting aside my total opposition to any murder, especially state sponsored murder, I think a man of Saddam's ego would be better punished in a million other ways that would be humiliating and humbling to him. Now he's just dead and that's it. It's not like he's ever going to perpetrate his vilishness ever again, why not make him work the rest of his life?

Yes, perhaps we should keep him in jail as sort of a symbol. We can print t-shirts that say "Free Saddam". We can let him continue to soak up government funds by rotting in jail despite his obvious atrocities. Then we should give him more and more luxuries as the years pass because he has served his time peacefully.

Why would you want to do all that? I'll pretend you aren't playing straw man here. But if you are, how the fuc! did you turn my "make him work the rest of his life" into giving him luxuries?

Given the ####### security situation in that country - the execution is inevitable vs. the admittedly small risk of him escaping / being freed.

A mistake was made allowing his trial to take place in Iraq and not in the Hague.
