Go back on the next flight.

I doubt a SSN is needed to marry in India.

You can fly to the US the same day you have visa in hand. Theoretically you just need to cross the border. SSN can be gotten later. The stamp in the passport serves as proof of LPR status for a year.

Thanks for the prompt responses guys...

However I heard that from my friends that we need to be in US fo 10-20 days, collect SSN# and/or plastic Green Card, somewhere I even read it will take 2 months for Green Card to get mailed to our address.. ?

And again how much time period are we not supposed to Marry after getting Immigrant Visa via a FB1 (Unmarried sons of USC) category ?

You can leave on the next plane and get married in India when you arrive.

You have to remain unmarried until the day you enter the United States. Once you have entered the US and your passport has been stamped as ADMITTED, you can return to your country and get married.

The SS can come as early as a week but there's no guarantee. Often times, you have to apply for it yourself even if you answered "yes" to the part where you want an SS# to be assigned to you on the DS230/DS260.

The time for receiving the GC also varies. It could take at least month or more.
