A year or more. The sooner you file the better. Once the child reaches or gets close to age 21, the wait will be longer.

just check the uscis website and it shows that it take 5months just wanted to be sure, this was updated november 30, 2013

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processingTimesDisplay.do

I wouldn't trust what that site says, it also says they are only just now processing March 2013 applications from USC's for spouse/children and that would be backwards to the way it would actually be.

It takes about 5 months for the I-130 to be approved (longer right now) then you have to wait for a visa number to become available.Category F2A is currently processing petitions with priority dates in September. After the visa number becomes available there is the paperwork and visa interview. So you are looking at longer than a year and probably closer to two years for the child to obtain a visa.

The sooner you file the sooner your petition gets in line.

After USCIS approves the i130, the case will be forwarded to NVC. It will stay with NVC until the PD becomes current. Your child will not be given an interview schedule if the PD is not current.

Priority dates for F2A has been stuck at 08 SEP 2013 for months now. It will not move any time soon according to predictions. Meaning those whose PD is 08 SEP 2013 and beyond will not be given interview schedules until their PD becomes current in the visa bulletin.

Age does not freeze for children of LPRs, so timing is essential for you.
