Hello,

I am doing quite a bit of research and I was wondering if anyone can help me answer some questions in regards to getting health insurance for my fiance. Does anybody know if my fiance can apply for health insurance via the healthcare.gov website? She just entered the United States on a K-1 visa and we were wondering if she would be permitted health insurance if we applied. Note, she is not yet a citizen as we are still waiting for the green card AOS things. Please let me know what type of insurance I should find for her. Also, do you know if there are any dental & vision insurance that I can purchase together. I have been looking around and I was wondering from anyone's experience if they know of a good insurance company I should look into.

I appreciate all your help!

Thanks,

Darren & Fern

Do you have health insurance? You can add her to yours when you get married. You can buy on the exchange but some benefits will not be available to her as a K-1 visa holder (like medicaid stuff).

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

I am recently graduated and under my mom's health insurance currently. I work as a Payroll professional intern at Disney in Orlando Florida. In June I plan to find a career with benefits preferably with Disney but until then I need insurance for my spouse Fernanda. I will be covered until age 26 by my mom unless I find an insurance plan before that. I just turned 24 in January.

See if this page helps

When you apply, you will be asked to submit proof that your fiance is here legally. There will be a drop-down list of documents to choose from. You can scan the documents and submit the proof electronically (as attachments). They will be reviewed by a person and you will be notified in just a few days of acceptance. My husband came on CR-1 so his documents were different. Not sure what your list will be.
