I used to think so, too, til this year. I have recovered half the annual $79 just since December, saving on shipping charges. And that's not even counting gas. I can order a book, have it delivered in 2 days, and save $9 in gas.

Not rich, more like cheapskate.

India's Supreme Court has ordered an investigation and police have moved to arrest the men responsible for the rape. Yet in the village in Bengal where the incident occurred, the Times of India reports that nearly all the locals — men and women, young and old — stand behind the gang rape sentence. The situation lays bare the diversity of perspectives, religions and cultures that divide India as it continues its development.

Why is it strange, or somehow strange that some blacks are more qualified for a job?? O, never mind, Blacks are not educated. I hold an associates, a bachelor's, half of a master's as I am not quite finished yet, a certificate and speak three languages.

I also I a brother who works for the VA, he is a VA and he is currently working on his Masters in finance and he is a Budget Analyst.

yawn, so many under qualified blacks it is ridiculous.

Why is it, so many educated Blacks have such a problem grasping numbers and statistics?

If my facts were off, then demonstrate that Blacks do have higher levels of education or experience which would account for them being hired at twice the rate (or more) as everyone else?

No one is making an assumption that you or any individual is not well qualified and smartly educated, we are talking about hiring practices and "if" preferential treatment is given to a group.

Oddly enough when Blacks are "underrepresented" in a company the use of Statistics suddenly make sense, when they are over represented... the numbers are meaningless.

I would like to point out that Jinx and Janelle are doing this forum a disservice. Rapes in Calcutta are OBVIOUSLY old news, so why bring it up at all? Why discuss something that happened in the distant past? I know someone who likes Dogs will soon be in here, berating the bof of you.

(as for me, thanks, cuz I wasn't aware that rape was such a problem over there. More reading to do now...)

We've actually posted data that shows even when a black person is more qualified and has no criminal record, a white felon has an equal if not better chance to get hired:

The young black men posing as job applicants in this study were bright college kids, models of discipline and hard work; and yet, even in this best case scenario, these applicants were routinely overlooked simply on the basis of the color of their skin. The results of this study suggest that black men must work at least twice as hard as equally qualified whites simply to overcome the stigma of their skin color.

Not fair. You're asking someone to conduct a study personally before they can discuss findings. You'd have to apply that rule to yourself then. How could you dismiss his claims without personally studying the subject and finding numbers to the contrary? Keep in mind, "personal observations" from your life do not scale across the world/country.

I'm basing this off of Danno's belief that there is no such thing as a qualified or educated black person.

Don't hurt him Marvin. Too much reading with correct facts might make him disappear for a couple of days stressed out that his ridiculous ideology doesn't have a foot to stand on.
