Once again, you make these statements and you have no factual basis to them. It's like you're mentally starring in your own Al Josten minstrel. In this post you readily admit that people gravitate towards people that they can relate to. Yet in another post you seem to say, "well i don't know why people want to join an organization that is themed with just their group". So which is it?

First of all when you are talking about small owned businesses, are you talking about a business defined by the government as being a small business or are you talking about family owned stores like a little Asian grocery market on some corner. Yeah in that example chances are you will usually find other family members or friends working there who are Asian. In the US a small business is defined by under 500 employees. My very first engineering job was in a minority, Black to be specific, owned company. The CEO and the CIO were Black. Aside from me I think there were maybe 3 other Blacks working in the company, most of the employees there were White. When you use language like the "vast majority" I would love to see some factual evidence to back up your claims. This was a multi-million dollar earning firm with maybe a little over 100 employees so they did very well.

I think your statements tell more about who you are as a person than anything else. Anyway most Black people I know are well-to-do Professionals like doctors, lawyers, engineers, and so on. Theres more baby mommas and welfare queens in your community than mine so why don't you focus your energies on them and not worry about matters you know nothing about.

It's true, some of my statements are not based in fact. But I bet those are not the ones you object to?

If you read the study you are posting about you would know the applicants were sent out to small businesses such as eateries and such, my comments were based on that size business.

If my statements seem contradictory let me try to clarify.

People (for the most part) gravitate towards those similar to them selves, even when there are large differences, there is most often something even bigger which the do connect on.

I made the comment questioning why people would want to join a Black (or white) Realtors association, but now that you have brought it up maybe I was more right than I knew.

People do gravitate towards other like them, even if they are Bankers or carpenters or Bass fisherman.

As far as me having more unwed mothers in my community than you do in yours..... yeah you might be right. But I bet you looked and saw I live in the South, and in an urban area..... so you know what that means.

I did not confuse anything nor is my scope limited. The United Negro College Fund founded in 1944. So whats your point? I mean just because you pasted a bunch of organizations does not mean squat to defend your original statements that most of these organizations were founded after what?? After slavery? After Jim Crow? like since you're the knowing seeing eye of racial harmony, you tell me what year we reached a racial harmonious utopia. What about the ADL, are they still needed?

Most "themed" organizations, and I use that term to include religious, cultural, racial, whatever exist for networking opportunities. Some groups, I'm not saying no names...rich White dudes,,,,,have a history of excluding anyone from their groups who do not fit into their mold. Even today a lot of times to be successful in big business it is not what you know but who you know. Networking is the one way that those 1%ers have kept most of the wealth in this country. They didn't even work for it in most cases but inheritance. They promote their own and even if you are White and come from a different class you will not be accepted in their ranks. Now if a young Black engineer coming out of college can't break into those ranks well maybe they are more welcomed with other Black engineers or professionals who will be a mentor and help him or her succeed. Why do you have a problem with that? How does that affect YOU. It doesn't at all.....your anti-stance is based in pure bigotry and ignorance.

Even beyond that, you seem to want to discount or marginalize diversity. Diversity is what makes America great.

My great grandfather did not act up and he was lynched. They tried to exterminate the blacks who they exclaimed were too smart. They did not keep blacks who displayed a degree of intelligence above what they thought should be displayed. Many had to play dumb.

Why the outcry over this anyway?

First people say that blacks are worse off now that Obama has been in office. Now they are complaining about him trying to raise the minimum wage for federal contractors because they believe more blacks are employed in Federal.

Every single ethnic or cultural group in this country has had their own associations.

Irish, Italians, Germans, Dutch, Russian, Koreans, Japanese, Chinese, Mexicans, Indians, Greeks etc when they first came to this nation banded together and helped each other. The biggest difference between Europeans and others is that they also banded together based on their racial identity but often segregated within their own cultural origins. So you had neighborhoods that were largely Irish or Russian, they have their own businesses and community organizations. Black Americans are no different in that regards. However the biggest difference is that none of these other groups here in this country were disenfranchised along racial lines that people of color were. So sure the Irish were treated like ####### by other Europeans, signs like no Irish allowed and so on. But the difference was is that especially over time they could blend in with other Europeans or like in the case of many ethnic Jews who were discriminated against could change their last name. People of color can't change their appearance or physically meld into a society that catered to White supremacy.

I guess my question for you is, why do you think that organizations geared to support Blacks are no longer needed? Help me understand your privileged way of thinking.

So what would America be like if there was no history of Italians here? What would America be like if there were never any Chinese people here? So like if you have ever studied American history, you would understand that our culture is unique in the scope of world history. People from all corners of the world came here and to this day they still do.

As far your comment about your community being urban and you're being from the South - that is how it's always been, the entire history of the South. Matter of fact I'm sure you have Black relatives, wouldn't be surprised if your great great grandmomma ain't Black - just saying while you whistlin Dixie ;-)

Why would they do that?

You're presuming that there is no reason that the black organisations exist and that the historical context is irrelevant.

So why would someone create a white only organisation, what would be the purpose of it?

This is a rhetorical question, since we all surely know that there are already white only organisations that exist in the USA. They all seem to share a love of jackboots and the one inch mustache.

Furthermore discrimination from public organizations is illegal and there have been Whites who have applied and been accepted to historically Black colleges and universities - I think it's pretty cool. It's like having our own Token.

It would be difficult for me to blend into Asian society too but that obstacle would not make me consider their society "supremacist", it is kinda bizarre you use that kind of term in 2014.

We must draw a distinction between organization geared towards "helping" those in need and those groups for which the association is based on "self advancement" or recreation.

I asked for specifics, on how diversity made america "great", you failed to list one way.

I would grant you that Diversity makes the country more interesting, especially when looking for a dinner out but the truth is, diversity is either meaningless or an obstacle.

Even in the micro experience we see this.

If I were to walk on to a job site of all Black masons, how would their work improve by mixing in a few white or hispanic guys?

People bring talents and skills, those are the areas of diversity which make for greatness, not a buffet of languages and colors.

Those things have little meaning and often are the cause for acrimony.

Now I will give you another go at it.

I don't get how narrowing your contacts and resources is an answer.
