Department of State (DOS) nolonger taking inquiry calls on K-1 Visas

I wouldn't be so sad, upset and frustrated if there was another department that offered the same help. However, there just isn't one so I am not sure what to do now.....aside from wait, wait, wait indefinitely. The Haiti embassy's inquiry line is useless & a complete waste of $$ (I have to pay $12 USD for 5 calls). NVC has no (or provides no) info once case is sent to the embassy. And now DOS will not take our calls? Awesome. Thanks U.S. Govmt. Making immigration harder and more frustrating at every turn for those of us who follow the rules :-(.

<<sigh>> Praying for a miracle.

I always thought the NVC people were super nice when I called.

I had better luck with DoS at Visa Unit Department. They were so nice and friendly and on the top of that, faster!

No doubt it's always best to be nice to whomever you speak with - I am a big advocate of that. Unfortunately, the DOS would give far more info about our case than the NVC as the NVC states they cannot provide any further info from the moment your case is shipped to the embassy. So if they can't answer any post NVC stage questions, the embassy's consulate info phone number doesn't understand English nor have access to anything but limited case info and now the DOS is unable to field our calls, what options are left to find out details on our case post interview?

CAEC, mostly.

Perhaps they'll do something with that to make it more accurate, and tell you what updates to your case actually are.

Who knows.

CEAC is the DOS. I am a frequent visitor to their website as well, checking in throughout the day to see if our status date changed biggrin.png Ugh, I suppose to look on the positive side of things, fortunately this is one day closer to being over I suppose, right? Praying for that for sure! energy.gif

Yep. I called DOS today to get my interview date, got told by the guy they no longer hold info on K1s, and told me to call the NVC.

Called the NVC just now, got told they only have access to it while it's passing through, the lady on the phone then told me to call the London embassy......

Who are well known for messing up their letters, or people either never getting their interview letter, or getting it late and ending up missing their interview. How frustrating :c

Yup, it's pretty .

I never got the notification of the interview date, which as the petitioner I believe I was supposed to as well as her. She luckily got hers, and I was able to call the DoS beforehand to get the date to make sure they didn't do something like schedule it for the day after they sent the notice out and we missed it because it took 3 days to get there.

Petitioners don't get sent a copy of the interview letter, only beneficiary (because only they are being requested to interview).

Called NVC , pushed option 3,

the fella looked up the casefile.

I'm still confused by what I was told, so I'm going to call again tonight.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Ya, that's standard for K-1 visas. I never understand why a petitioner would think to receive something.

OTOH, other visa types, CR-1/IR-1 with NVC doc intake, NVC sends out the P4, interview letter, to both folks.

Huh. I didn't know that. Thanks. Still, seems weird, since petitioner isn't generally expected at the interview.
