I foolishly didn't look at what was needed before. If this is in the wrong spot, feel free to move. Mostly just looking for opinions.

Are the suggested affidavits necessary.

Hubby and I are not social people. We move frequently due to his job. As a result, I've not bothered to make any real friends. I have one, his ex wife (yup, we're weird people). I don't even have many friends back home. And I've only ever met one of his (we don't live anywhere near where he grew up). Most of the people I would call friends, live all over the place and have been met online through various media's.

My family's met him, and love him. His family has met me.. but I'm not his ex wife and the mother of his son.. so I'll never be completely accepted. He is not very close to his family, so acceptance isn't high on the list of things that were important to him. Since my family could not attend our wedding, we didn't invite his either and just did something for us.

We did not have affidavits when we filed initially and nothing went wrong. I'm just wondering if I need to give myself a headache trying to find people to do one?

I wouldn't worry. What they're most interested in at this point is co-mingled finances. Joint bank accounts, beneficiaries on eachotehr's life insurance, taxes file jointly etc. Proof you live at the same address - bill in both names, State IZD or drivers licenses which show the same address. That kind of thing.

Hey - if you happen to include a letter from a friend (no one says it can't be the ex-wife) that's great, but I wouldnt sweat it. You're not from a high fraud country and if everything has gone well up to this point you should be fine. Also people seldom have to go for ROC interviews anyway, its more a formality.

We never sent in any affidavits. I didn't have any friends of my own. His brother was someone he asked earlier but he didn't want immigration to have any of his info. The man is a little paranoid I'm sure if they wanted his info they would of already have it :P

Just gather all the evidence you have. We even used vet papers, and pet ID registrations, heck if I could of we would of sent the kitchen sink.

Just sent my wife's ROC package in beginning of January. Co-mingling of financials is the most important, if your lacking in that area, you can add other stuff. There is a checklist of things you can send with the ROC package up in the guides section http://www.visajourney.com/content/751guide and you can get more help if you need it in the ROC Forum. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/86-removing-conditions-on-residency-general-discussion/

Good Luck!

Yeah we have a joint bank account, we have joint checks, credit cards from the same account etc. I should be able to drum up enough stuff to not need affidavits, and I'm sure if they RFE'd for them that his ex-wife would happily do one lol. We don't have much in the way of bills in both names though, one bill is, but can't remember which one off the top of my head. Not enough time to have him put on them either (all but one are in my name, the net company wouldn't let me get service because of new credit *rolls eyes*). But we do file our taxes jointly.

Thanks folks!!

Even things that you can show are mailed to each of you separately at the same address are fine as well.
