ok, here's a list nessa and i have compiled and we have hunted all over vj for the answers and we give up:

- the i-485 ask for the i-94 number. is that the preprinted number on the upper left on the face of the i-94 that is in black ink that is 11 numbers long?

- also on the i-485 it asks about the expiration of the k-1 visa. i'm assuming that is 90 days from entry into the usa (which in nessa's case was on 10 oct 06) and counting 90 days from that date (and including 10 oct) i get to 7 jan 06. on her i-94 is the date 8 jan 06. which is the correct number to put for that? (this is asked in part 1 of the i-485).

- vaccination supplement- the guides state "If you are a K-1 fiancé(e) or K-2 dependent who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement (I-693A), not the entire medical report. You may include the vaccination supplement with your adjustment of status application.)" nessa says we can must submit the ds-3025 form which shows all of her vaccinations instead of getting an i-693a done. true or false? and if true, must we submit the original ds-3025 or will a copy do?

oh the joys of aos...........

hey charles! long time...

i just filed this a couple of weeks ago so im hoping im right.

1. Yes. That is the printed number on the upper left face of theI-94

2. If the stamp says January 8 2007, then that is the date that you may want to put in the application. you need to submit a copy of the I-94 along with your AOS application so the date on your I-485 should reflect the same date on your I-94 to avoid any confusion.

3. i wouldnt take the risk of just sending in the original ds-3025 if that's not what they are asking for. I believe (someone correct me if i am mistaking) that for K1 holders, the information that is on the ds-3025 (vaccine records) must be transfered to a vaccination supplement (I-693A), not by you but a by civil surgeon. our civil surgeon gave us a sealed envelope addressed to the USCIS which we were told not to open and attach to the AOS application. we were given copies for the vaccination Supplement but were instructed to submit the originals (what was in the sealed envelope)

hope this helps.

-the I-94 number is the hand-written number on the I-94 card stapled on the immigrant's passport.

-you don't have to do the math on the expiration date as it is stamped on the I-94 and/or the passport.

-you need the I-693a sealed envelope from a civil surgeon...this subject has been exhaustively discussed in this forum...including those who opted to use their ds-3025 form (please search it before i give you the wrong info).

i'm referencing part 1 of the i-485, in the lower left is "current uscis status" (which we put "k-1 visa holder" as listed in the example here on vj). in the lower right is the block "ëxpires on (mm/dd/yyyy)" and i'm assuming that means when her k-1 visa expires (the 90 day window from arrival to get married). is it asking for the expiration of the 90 day window (as shown in the vj example of this form) or the actual expiration of the k-1 visa in the passport?

I think Yodrak will say that in fact it asks for the expiration of the I-94, which either way you put down the same date, the one stamped in your I-94.

Charles, I'd find a civil surgeon from USCIS that could transfer the vaccination record to the I-693A as I've heard people getting RFE's for not submitting it.

Hi I am Tanya

Just another stupid question or clarification I just finshed the K 1. Correct me if i am wrong.

The A# is the number that was hand written on the back and front of the I-94.

The I-94 # is the number that is printed on the I-94 in the left hand corner.

Verton has now been here since 12/15/2006 is it safe to try and get his SS card?

charlesandnessa,

As you observe, the question asks when current USCIS status expires. Nothing is written about a visa anywhere in Part 1 of I-485. I-94 dictates when status expires.

And a visa expires on the expiration date written on the visa (although it may become useless prior to that date). In any event, a visa does not determine when status expires. Think of a B2 or some other type of non-immigrant visa and it should be easy to understand.

charlesandnessa,

Your confusion on this item of I-485 is a good illustration of why I'm a stickler for undertanding and using proper terminolgy. VJers have a horrible tendancy to mis-use terms or to conflate different terms. Often what they mean when they do this is clear to others who do the same, but when they do it when trying to address a question that is using correct terminology, and they substitute incorrect terminology, they lead themselves off in the wrong direction.

hey charles and nessa...just wanted to give you a heads up about the civil surgeon. i'm not sure where you live in the city, but when anthony filed for AOS, we called around to all the civil surgeons in the metro area. It's amazing how much the fees can vary from one place to another! The best price we found was at the Health Department in Liberty....I think it was only around $30 to get the vaccination supplement.

Of course, that was 18 months ago, so you might want to call around again, just to be sure! Good luck!
