Because of the nature of the petition certain things or document that is considered vital for and AOS that is marriage base is not so much of relevance in the vawa case. All u need is ur passport or a receipt from your consulate that you have applied for a passport (some abusers even damage or withhold the victims documents) your birth certificate or a receipt of one applied for, your children's birth certificate when applicable (child/ten are beneficiaries or apart of the marriage), your i94 or i94 waiver, marriage certificate, and a drivers license if you don't have your passport in hand, your i360 approval, the interview schedule letter (it's ised to check you in), your medical if you didn't previously submitted it, all divorce decree, or anullment. It's highly recommended that you have original of all document but because some victims had to relocate or flee the homes of there abuse you may not have your originals explain that to the io. It's about pleading your case. Be factual they can't deny you for the truth. Once you can prove your identity then that's what matters.

In my interview the io asked for my birth certificate I had it available, my daughters birth certificate, she's a USC born in my abusive marriage, my passport which I explained I applied for but because of the quick process of my application (in total 8months) and being a single mother money was tight and I was just able to and it will not be available until 4-6 weeks from application and I give her the receipt. She asked for my medical which I took with me and my i94. She never asked for my EAD (still have it). She asked to see a pic of my daughter (dead stamp a r pa) and she proceed to ask me the security questions from the application. Once completed she said if I recently change my address I said yes and updated it. She asked me what name I want to use on my residency card I said my maiden name. She said if we don't contact your lawyer by the end of the day for additional information then you will have your card in 30 days. She said enjoy your life in America (indirectly telling me I'm approved). She asked me what I did for a living I told her on our way out and she said I know you will make the best of your time here. Very nice young African American girl. I had a lawyer from start to end. No rfe, and he kept me updated.

Just to update you, I am officially a future sailor will get ship off in June feel proud to salute the Star-Spangled Banner at dep meetings. I passed my LPN board and I'm taking a trip to Jamaica late next month! Oh and my baby girl is almost 1 omg!

I never saw myself as a helpless victim but more as an overcomer because I know HOWTOSURVIVE

Remember, on school breaks I always invite a bunch of parents with kids for all-inclusive trips to Disneyworld. So we're doing NYC school breaks Feb.14-23 and Apr.11-22 (btw, whoever could never afford it or doesn't have ID for flying - just give me enough notice, and I'll find you spots)

So it's important for me to understand: what is the exact time window between Notice of interview and its date? And also: was GC in your hand one week after the interview, rather than one month?

I had interview on October 8, USPS pick it up on the 18th delivered to my house on the 21. Didn't know it was in my mail box because I had recently moved and never changed my address with the post office and I also expected it to go to my lawyer so it sat in my mail box for some days. Weird I know. My name wasn't even on the mail box and tgey left it unlike ssa who didn't leave my new unrestricted social because my name wasn't on the box. I don't remember the window between the time my lawyer got the notice and my interview. It was about two or 3 weeks caz my vawa was approved august 5, got email update august 14 and hard copy a few days later. My file left vac august 15 or at least that's the date it got updated online and went to NBC and left nbc on august 15 (no delays) so I had interview in two months after approval and 6 weeks after it reach my local office. Once it got to local office it had to be reviewed before date was scheduled and who knows what other things they did before they send out interview notice?

Sure: we have done non-profit trips to Disney Resort, Orlando for every school break past five years. Trip number fourteen will be the Spring Break departing NYC after school Friday April 11th, and returning to NYC a week later. However, there isn't much we can do in your case (try to find someone in Miami who does this): all our passengers are from North East (mainly NYC area) or on the way down I-95 toward Orlando.

A recent post has been split from this old thread, moved to the "AOS from Work, Student, & Tourist Visas" main forum, and given the topic title "AOS without First (of two) Japanese Divorce Certificates?  [split topic]."

Old thread is now closed.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
