Enough is enough... Time for action

Hello everyone,

Next week will be 9 months since I have filed for the IR-1 visa, and I have been patiently waiting as much as possible. But when I see that there are petitioners here that have been waiting since February and March, I can only imagine what they are going through.

Yes its a privilege to apply for your significant other to move in this country. I earned my citizenship in 2008 after the whole naturalization process, so I am not taking anything for granted. I checked the processing times on USCIS last year and it said 5 months before getting married, so instead of going "around the system" of bringing her here on a visitor visa, I decided to do the right thing and applied for IR-1. BUT, I paid a fee for USCIS to process a visa ( to provide there service) 4 months delayed and still no end in sight, this is enough!

My fellow VJer's have done an excellent job in running campaign's and gotten some answers, I have seen more progress within last 2 months compare to last 8 months. Not only that, think about the people applying now... how long are they going to wait?

I really think we need to get media involved in this, newspapers, immigration insights, online blogs, facebook, twitter etc, to get our voices heard. I am no couples therapist or a doctor, but under no circumstances a separation of a year or longer is/or should be healthy for a marriage (I know there are exceptions, that's why they are called exceptions).

So please, who ever has any connections with the media, I request you all reach out and get our voices heard. I don't think USCIS is in any hurry to process our applications and as an American, I am ashamed of this system failing to bring families together.

P.S.

This is not a jab on this great country of USA, I love this country as much as any US born, or maybe more, but I am just expressing my frustration with USCIS, so please don't try to take any different meaning out of this.

Best regards,

USCIS doesn't process visas, that task is the exclusive purview of the State Department's Bureau of Consular Affairs (i.e. a CO at an Embassy or Consulate). What USCIS processes is petitions.
