Hi all! I have been looking all over the internet and cannot seem to find a straight answer. I want to file a K1 visa for my boyfriend (future fiance) so we can marry here in the US. At the same time, I don't know if it would be better to marry there and come back and file a spouse visa??? Which is more likely to gt him here and approved?

Also, he lives in Kosovo and speaks very little English. I understand a lot of Albanian (because i work for.his brother) and can speak your basics, will that hurt Us when it comes to interview time?? I don't know whether to start the K1 or save up and go see him and get married. I have met him one time in person this past October will that look bad to the consulate? Thank you all for all of your help!!

First off. You don't file a K-1 for a boyfirend. A K-1 is a Fiance visa. Second you will hear many diffenent opinions on a K-1 vs CR-1. I don't think there is a definite answer to that question. I know I am 37 years older than my wife so I felt it was wise to go to the Philippines and marry her, then file the CR-1. I also vistited her three times before attending the embassy interview with her in Manila. All I can say is it worked. She is here and we are together. Of course every case varies, countries vary, etc...

Not so sure about Kosovo. Hopefully some people from Kosovo will chime in on this.

Which visa you file is entirely based on what is best for your situation personally ... However, a few possible red flags went up in my head reading your post... Not speaking a common language is a red flag.. How can you have meaningful conversations if you do not share a language? Combined with the fact you work for his brother to me it might seem suspicious to immigration (like a marriage for convenience or to help your boss get his family over here) ... If all is legit, be prepared to possibly address these flags IMO ...

Thank you all for your responses. As far as language barrier, its really like I understand Albanian and speak a little. He understands English and speaks a little. We use a lot of mixing of the 2 languages when talking to each other. It really started out texting and emailing so I uses google translate!!! Also, I know he K1 is for a fiance we have not yet set our engagement date as his family wants to do an engagement party! I guess my main question was, get engaged and file K1 or get married and file for spouse? I have never been marroed but fell head over heels in love and know I want to spend the rest of my life with him
