Hello,

After 14 months of working on documents and reading all those forums and asking tons of questions I finally got my visa and the "yellow package" :)

On the 2nd of Feb I am flying to the USA ( Chicago ), I know that I have to give this yellow package to an immigration officer and.... then what ? We already paid the $165 USCIS immigrant fee. I have no idea what I need to do next.

After checking my yellow package will they give me any stamp in my passport ?

Do I need to visit any service center or fill any more forms ?

Will I receive my green card at home ?

or how does it work ?

P.S. Thank you everybody for all the help and advice. This forum really helped us and made everything easier.

You don't really need to do anything else when you arrive. You'll enter the USA, hand over your passport/visa and envelope, sign a form or two and then sent on your way. Your stamped visa will act as a temporary greencard until your physical plastic one shows up in the mail to the address you put in the USA (you can alter the address if it's changed at POE, IIRC). You can read Chicago POE reviews here: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/poereviews.php?poe=Chicago&dfilter=0

It's really sort of anti-climatic. smile.png You just get to get on with your life!

If you are coming in as a CR-1, you'll get a 2 year green card in the mail and you'll need to do removal of conditions on that within 90 days of your 2 year US-entry anniversary.

If you're an IR-1, you'll get a 10 year GC right off the bat and not have to do anything until that expires or you decide to naturalize. smile.png

Remember to recieve your green card you must pay the New Immigrant Fee via the ELIS you should receive your green card in the mail 1-3 months after POE or after paying in the USA, whichever is second. You can keep track of your progress on the ELIS account.

yes i have CR1 visa which mean after 2 years i need to fill some other forms smile.png

Yes, the I-751 to remove conditions on residency. The soonest you would be able to file that form is 90 days before the expiration date printed on the green card.

Don't worry about that right now, celebrate crossing the finish line of this journey.
