dancin5hr.gif This helps soooo much, thank you everyone!!! It's one ticket., Ghana to Casablanca to JFK to Charlotte.

He is just bringing a carry on bag (small book bag), no checked bags. His plane lands at JFK at 3:45pm and the flight to CLT leaves at 6:30pm. So he has 2hours and 45 mins to get through Immigration and customs. Not having to stop at baggage claim might save him sometime. Hope he makes it!!

Couple more questions,

What happens if he misses the flight from being stuck in line or something?

When he get to Casablanca (Mohammed V International Airport) he has a 3 hour layover. Any tips for when he gets off the plane there?

Thanks again for all the very helpful awesome Answers!!!!

Amber & Catty - maybe I have watched too many "Border Patrol" TV shows...but I think having no checked baggage may actually raise flags - especially for a person who is coming to the US for the very first time. Yes, I know he is coming with a fiance visa - but he may be asked lots of questions about why he isn't bringing ANY clothing (besides what he carries in his book bag) when he is obviously going to be here for a while.

Anyone else have alarm bells going off? I really don't want him to get hassled!

If he'll miss the flight, which is because of him not because of the airline,I guess he'll have to buy another ticket for the domestic flight.

It wouldn't hurt to call the airline to see what,if any options are available. In same cases they will give him the next flight available with a fee but most of the time not, still it's up to the airlane and the type of ticket you have bought.

Hope it won't happen!

I am also from Ghana. I lives in Greensboro,NC.I also came through Air Maroc. He have to be careful at Casablanca because they don't speak English.I nearly missed my connected flight to new York. The only advice that i can give to you is that,Do not let him fly during weekend because when i arrived at New York,I spent almost 4 hours in the queue waiting to be processed through the CBS. Also the airline did not give me the I-94 form to be filled in the airplane so i was totally delayed. If i can still remember, the boarding gate to connect a flight from Casablanca is gate 21 and 22.So he should be very much aware of that.He have to be so much careful too because Air Maroc departs in Accra toooooooo early(5:55am) if maybe they don't change because i departed 5:55am .I was picked in new york by my brother as he also lives here in Greensboro.I hope he makes it here and enjoy the long lifetime partnership with ya.Thanks

My experience has been extremely different. 99% of the time if there's a missed connection or delay the airline will get you on the next flight for free. That's the real reason you want a single ticket for your journey. The budget airlines like Ryanair, Allegiant and others might have different policies but all of the major carriers are really consistent on this. "because of him" isn't truly because of him but because of the entry process or not enough time getting there.

If something does come up and he misses the flight he can just go up to the gate counter or the main ticketing area and explain the situation. They're pretty well responsible for getting you from A to B via C and there isn't any real paperwork for them to change up a connecting flight. If you had two sets of tickets like the original setup was then it'd be entirely your responsibility and expense to be ready for that last leg of the flight.

Type of ticket is if you need to make a change or cancel and there are a wide variety of policies and associated fees.

Now your luggage. and where that might be is another thing entirely if you miss a flight. Airlines aren't supposed to let luggage fly sans passenger but it happens all the time.

I'm curious too about no luggage. Heck I brought a suitcase back with me on my last visit in prep for the wife's move because she's going to be bringing 2 checked bags herself later. Nothing outrageous, just some books, clothes and stuff that'll end up on our walls etc. Wedding gifts and the like.
