Heya.

I really don't have much stuff so a hoping I can get my stuff moved as luggage.

With BA economy you can get an extra bag for £40, other additional bags cost £120.

So as my parents are coming over a few weeks after me for the wedding I was hoping I could pay the £40 for each of them and get them to bring a box each for me.

I believe I am allowed to bring stuff over for a year without having to pay tax on it.

How do you think this would work if they are bringing stuff for me on a different flight ?

(I'd have them repack it, so they can say they packed it themselves and give them an inventory)

Thanks!

You have 5 years. Chances are your parents luggage would go through as any other common luggage. But in essence it is your unaccompanied household goods. ...meaning you are not coming in with the goods. There is a customs form for unaccompanied goods when you ship things. It is possible a photocopy of your passport bio page, the visa, and your I-94 along with the inventory list would do should they have a search of the luggage.

I would call the CBP at the arrival airport and ask that question of the Passenger Service Manager. Get the name and what he says will do for them at that specific airport. It can vary. Even for our large shipment on a ship, where we were going to clear ourselves rather than with an agent who does that, Houston told me "I like to make it real easy. Don't fill out the long form. Bring me an inventory list and I will clear the shipment for release from the port,". So find out what your airport says. Get fiancé to call for you.
