Hey, guys! I'm in a very difficult situation these days. My country (Ukraine) is at about to go under martial law, which means that TV-channels, the Internet, and cell phone connection will be cut. Does anybody know how can USCIS notify me about the state of my case? How am I to contact the embassy or how can the embassy contact me?
I really really need some information.

Yuliya, where did you read/hear about Ukraine going under Martial Law? I have seen nothing as I am following the events in Kiev very closely. I know protests have become very serious and some violent. However, I have seen nothing, read nothing and heard nothing, even from my fiance, about this. Let me know. FYI>>>I am originally from Wisconsin.

Is the US citizen in the US? USCIS will not be contacting the Beneficiary. So it really doesn't matter. How your Fiance/Fiancee' contacts you that may be dicey if it comes to how to notify you for medical and all that stuff after approval.

Well, politicians are going to discuss if martial law should go into effect on Tuesday. Nobody knows anything for sure as usual. I hope for the best, but try to get ready for the worst.

I haven't heard anything about martial law - though some short term communications outages that have gone on are thought to be test runs for a more widespread control of communication in the country. I have heard of troops moving to the capital, but to my knowledge (and I am not paying a ton of attention to the situation) the military has yet to take sides in the unrest that is going on.

Read that the military, at this time, is taking a back seat. The call for martial law came from the Crimea. This would have to be presented to parliament and per i.ua that won't happen. Time will tell. My fiance has told me about protesting now happening in her city, Kirovohrad. It definitely is now returning to other cities. A few months back there were protests primarily from Western Ukraine, but now protests are popping up in the Eastern cities. Hopefully, level heads will prevail. No one wins when violence takes over.

In the long run, the good guys always win! All will be well in Ukraine.......and it is likely the protesters will win most of their concessions, as long as they and the Ukrainian public unite to put an end to the nonsense. After all, the country belongs to its citizens....not its politicians!

Just answering your questions as a hypothetical. You said only cell phones would be cut off. That means you could still use land lines, do you have one? The embassy could call you or send you postal mail. Will the postal mail work?

People got visas before people had cell phones and the internet.

If things are that dangerous they will just put everything on hold. They have done that with Egypt in the past.

Best wishes.
