Huckabee: Dems think women can’t control their libido

Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee ® said Thursday that Republicans need to take a more combative attitude toward winning the votes of women, by emphasizing that women aren't weaklings in need of help from the government.

“I think it’s time Republicans no longer accept listening to the Democrats talk about a 'war on women,'" Huckabee said during a speech at the Republican National Committee's winter meeting in Washington. "The fact is the Republicans don’t have a war on women, they have a war for women, to empower them to be something other than victims of their gender.”

Huckabee said Democrats rely on women believing they are weaker than men and in need of government handouts, including the contraception mandate in Obamacare.

"If the Democrats want to insult the women of America by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government, then so be it," Huckabee said. "Let's take that discussion all across America."

Huckabee also urged the GOP to be more aggressive on income inequality, calling Democrats "the party that has preached poverty."

Another thing the US is number one at, having stupid conversations about women and women's health. No other forward thinking 1st world country is having this dialogue any longer. It's a done deal. It's insulting to women in the US that this conversation goes on and on and on by either side but the GOP with forward thinkers like Huckabee is definitely worse.

It attracts attention and it shouldn't be even in the political dialogue. Women use contraceptives, they have sex and enjoy it. It's no longer a controversial issue. Politics needs to move on to things that actually have a profound effect on the economy not argue over whether women should be able to get contraceptives because of the affordable health care act.

The next logical step here is equalizing rape laws. When two people get drunk and have sex, only the man is vulnerable to rape charges. Part of that has to do with the unequal technical definition of rape in many jurisdictions. However, we need to get past the cultural assumption that while men are always responsible for their decisions to have sex, women quickly lose all culpability once they have a couple drinks.
