Kindly inform me what will happen.. thanks in advance.. i'll try to get mine on thursday.. it's the only requirement that im missing.. other than that, everything is ok..

I got my NBI clearance today. Purpose is TRAVEL USA. I paid for 2 coz I wanted a copy.

I asked them how can a person how can one get a "hit" and they said it's when someone who has the same or similar or closely similar name as you have a record.

I had no hit.

So don't worry even if you do get a hit, I'm sure it will be cleared and you can get it after 2 weeks

Does anyone here have the same situation like mine?

Our case had just been approved yesterday, january24,2014.

We are unto the next step: the VISA PROCESSING

We all know that NBI CLEARANCE is one of the requirements i must acquire. But i have a "hit" because of my obligation as dost scholar. I have ro render service here in the philippines for 5 years but ive only got 2yrs. My husband lives in the US and he files the petition for me to be with him. Anyone here have the same scenario? Please help...

Hi. I was a DOST scholar too, After I have cleared out my obligations, I requested for a clearance from DOST. DOST gave me the final clearance letter and 3 individual letters addressed to the NBI director, BOI commissioner and DFA director. This was 5 years ago. When I requested for an NBI clearance last year for a travel to China, my name had a hit as well, so I had to show the original clearance and letter to NBI director that was given to me in 2008. I was lucky because I still kept those files with me up to this date. I still had a hit when I applied for my NBI clearance for my fiance visa application last August. Waited for 8 days until they gave me my NBI clearance.

IMO, unless you're cleared from obligations, I think you have no choice but to pay the remaining amount that DOST supported you with, if you plan to leave the country soon. How many years have you worked after graduating pala?

Hope everything works out for you. Good luck! :)

A DOST scholar's obligations with the government does not automatically evaporate, sis. In fact, you have to show them proof that you have paid taxes (ITR) in the same amount in years (or more) that they have supported you, so they can give you a clearance and letters clearing you from the NBI, DFA and BOI. Since you have plans to leave the country, it's best to contact DOST soon so you can inquire as to how you can settle your remaining years of obligations.

For usual questions during the USEM interview, here's the link to the reviews: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Philippines

Good luck sis! :)

Just want to update everyone on this thread.. ive paid my remaining service obligation on DOST.. 6digits it is! But atleast, i dont have to worry anymore.. i have my nbi clearance and i already submit the documents to my husband (birth certificate, marriage certificate, photos, nbi clearance, photocopy of passport-front). He received it yesterday (03/12/2014). This morning, i called the NVC, and finally, we had a CASE NUMBER and the INVOICE IDENTOFICATION NUMBER. *so excited*

What will be the next step?

Ouch! But good to hear that you finally got over that hurdle. good.gif

Do check this flowchart for what you need to watch out for: http://www.visajourney.com/examples/NVC_Process_Flowchart_v1-2.pdf

Don't forget to bring the original and a photocopy of your clearance, letter to the BOI/ DFA with you when you leave. Sometimes the list that they refer to at the airport doesn't get updated as fast. If they tell you at the airport that you're not cleared to leave, you have your clearance letters to show them and you'll have to give them one copy. At least, that's what happened in my case.

That's true! Including the Immigration officer when you're clearing from NAIA. You might still have to show these original clearances when it's time for you to renew your passport in US. :)
