Does anyone here have the same situation like mine?

Our case had just been approved yesterday, january24,2014.

We are unto the next step: the VISA PROCESSING

We all know that NBI CLEARANCE is one of the requirements i must acquire. But i have a "hit" because of my obligation as dost scholar. I have ro render service here in the philippines for 5 years but ive only got 2yrs. My husband lives in the US and he files the petition for me to be with him. Anyone here have the same scenario? Please help...

As far as I know you have to pay them or buy out the contract. It's 5 years now? Well it is depending on how long they provided for you so I'm guessing you're an engineering major. They should have told you about the condition at the very beginning though so like what the other poster said you should contact them to know how much to pay exactly and the processing.

Yes.. an engineering major.. i have an estimated computation that i still have to pay.. it will cost us around 120k.. i dont have any problem with my passport cause i already have one.. i obtain it without the nbi clearance..

*sigh* im bothered..

Having an NBI "hit" has nothing to do with you being a DOST scholar. A "hit" simply means that your name is common and have a lot of namesakes. I have a "hit" too but it was not an issue as long as your NBI annotation says "NO RECORD ON FILE" or "NO DEROGATORY RECORD".

You will only have problems with NBI if there is any on-going or pending case filed against you and I don't think that NBI has your name in their file for being a DOST scholar..

I don't have idea on how your contract works with DOST in case you fail to render the required service, but it is safe if you'll just go ahead and pay the equivalent monetary value of your service.

Nope.. it didnt state that im a scholar.. but they actually ask me for a reason and i answered them that maybe its my scholarship.. there is a memo from the BOI that they're lifting the ban on scholarship. Meaning, they're allowing us to get out of the country.. its just the NBI that is giving me a hard time..

I will try to get mine tomorrow, let's see what it says then. I first took Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering but shifted Nursing after 3 semesters. My batchmate was Software Engineering too then shift to Nursing then shifted to Nautical (I don't know the right term). I don't remember him mentioning he had to pay. We were Pisay though not DOST college scholars.

You shouldn't have just mentioned that to them. You are not going to the US purely for work but to be united with your husband. Maybe your name is common, what else the the people at NBI tell you?

For the visa application, you have to get the GREEN NBI clearance. For travel abroad purposes. When you get a "hit", you will wait 10-15 business days before your clearance will be released. Depending on where you apply, some offices release it sooner.
