Some good luck traditions in my country, many of which I do not even do, are:

Personally, I just watch the festives in Budapest, Paris and New York. Sometimes I am at one of them, sometimes not.

But then we go home, to watch all our fav films...trying to see as many as we can before falling asleep. One year, we stayed up for 30hours watching films. Little bizarre I know, but it is fun.

pork as a main dish & black eyed peas w/ hog jowls here, too :)

its a southern thang i guess

there is also a tradition of putting a penny in the pot of peas when served... the person who gets the penny gets extra luck and wealth in the coming new year

"True love is falling in love with your best friend,

and only then, will you find the meaning of happiness."

I've never even heard of this black-eyed peas tradition! I don't think we do it up here! But I keep finding out that most of our Minnesota traditions are actually just Canadian so if Canadians don't do it, then it would make sense.

In Brazil they wear all white and do firecrackers. And also you have to hug and kiss everyone and tell them happy new year at midnight. The constant hugging and kissing every time you leave or enter a room is what I like least about Brazil!! Oh, and they throw flowers in the water. But I fell asleep before that part, oops.
