Sure the problem is the nuts. But that's only half the problem. The other half are those that fight tooth and nail to make sure these nuts have guns.

I don't want nuts to have guns either. But there are more responsible people with guns than there are nuts with guns. So let's punish the majority for the actions of a few? How about we punish the few and make an honest effort to do something about the mental health issues? Easier said than done, I realize that. Or better yet, let's start enforcing the laws we currently have in place. Ditto for immigration. More laws won't help anything when we don't even enforce the ones we currently have.

You got it backwards. If the bad guy was brought down by a crossbow, it's mandatory crossbows for all.

It's easier and cheaper to blame the guns. People like simple boogeymen. It'll take too much effort and money to fix peoples mental problems.

People own guns because of a simple boogeyman.

I know many Americans would disagree but I like how in many parts of the world, all the malls have security screenings before you enter. I never found it an inconvenience and sure it's not 100% full proof but at least I wouldn't have to worry about some nut entering a mall with an AK under their coat.

The guns aren't going to go away. We need to pay attention to mental health issues much more than we have been doing.

So now it unfolds that a bomb was also a weapon of choice.. At least in the planning stage. Bomb squad had to be called in to move the body. ...Kinda blows the mantra if he did not have a gun this would not have happened. True we do not know if it could detonate but the possibility is there of many other shoppers being killed or maimed if it did. lets see ... 2 school shooters , the theater shooter, this shooter and of course the boston bombers ,,,,all tried to use a bombs their evil plans. And I forgot that Russian teen in Pennsylvania Friday . Discovered with a bomb in a suitcase. ... I guess we need more laws against using bombs before someone gets hurt. Where is our senators from California on this ... thinking of another way to ban a gun from law abiding subjects.

If you read both of those slowly, carefully, you'll notice they are actually two very different things. I ran it by a panel of very smart people, and 11 out of 8 said that trying to reduce the number of mentally ill people who own a gun and distributing more guns to everyone are mutually exclusive concepts.
