I read on here that when you submit your 129F.. you need to submit both primary and secondary evidence. of proof of having met more than twice in the last two years... and that photos are considered secondary evidence. And with only submitting secondary evidence, you can expect an RFE..

I'm worried because that is exactly what I did.

On my application I said we met online on such and such a date and have been dating IN PERSON ever since because we live less than 50 minutes apart.

Since i live on the border... and from what I had read about what was required. I got the impression somehow that sending off 5 photos with the date and place on the back etc would be enough.

I am not worried that it will just end up as an RFE because I didn't send receipts etc. I just didn't think to do that because we are so close... so I don't have airline tickets etc..

Does anyone have any personal experience with this?

Did yours result in an RFE?

Thanks.

You only need to have met face-to-face once within the prior 2 years. Photos only are not primary, solid proof of meeting. Just have more solid proof ready to go if the RFE comes.

I just don't really know what other kind of proof I can include other than photos..

Has anyone been approved on photos alone?

Like I said we only live 50 minutes away from eachother so it isn't like my passport is being stamped etc..

The only thing I coudl think to do is print some bank statements showing I am there..

But usually i just take out american cash from my account when I go down there.

All we send in with our I-129f were 3 photos of us together and that was it. At the time I hadn't informed myself a whole lot and didn't even know that there was such a thing as primary and secondary evidence... But we never got an RFE and they didn't want to see any more evidence till this day, so I wouldn't worry to much about it, especially since you live so close.

Personally I don't quite understand how an airline ticket proofs more than a picture. Yes, it shows you where in the country, but nothing says you actually spend time with your fiancé, where a picture on the other hand actually shows that you were indeed together. But we all know that USCIS sometimes has weird reasoning. :D

Thank you so much...

One positive outcome gives me a lot of hope.

Passport stamps are the best accepted primary evidence. Airline tickets show nothing other than you purchased a ticket. It does not prove you even used it. Boarding passes with dates however show you were actually on the plane. Those, along with passport stamps with the same dates, receipts from hotel stays, ATM usage, credit card/bank statements from purchases while in the other country are decent primary evidence documents. The photos of you together are secondary and help backup the fact you were together during those dated times in the other country.

Photos can be easily doctored and that is why photos are not usually accepted alone for proof of meeting in person. Whoever adjudicated your case allowed the photos only. That has not been the case for many others that did receive an RFE for sending photos only though.

If you did not fly on a plane, and/or crossed the Canadian border, then of course you would not have passport stamps or boarding passes. You would need to show whatever other proof you could. There are posts in the Canada regional forum about what evidence to use for meeting in that case.

We had only secondary proof of 2 photos and a printout of booking in both of out names. If the person looking into your case has some common sense (i.e you live 50min apart) then you should be ok without RFE. If they ask for more, maybe having credit card/bank statement showing cash withdrawals or payments near the other location?

It is not where I breathe but where I love that I live.

RFE stands for Request for Evidence. If USCIS adjudicators don't feel satisfied for all documents you sent ensemble to your I-129F, they will send you an RFE for asking more documents. The bad side, when you get an RFE, it means will delay the process but the good side is that USCIS looked up to your case file. Some Vjers here after replied RFE to USCIS they got approved for I-129F.

Itineraries is not strong enough to show you both have met in person. People could booked the flights without using it. Passport stamps is one of solid evidences to show USCIS that you've met your fiance(e) at same place and same date.

RFE = Request For Evidence.

It may or may not be. It will depend on who adjudicates your case. Photos and itineraries alone are not solid proof of meeting. Others have been lucky enough to get by with just photos, but many have not. Proof of meeting in person within the 2 years prior to filing is a common RFE. You just have to wait and see. If you don't get an RFE then great. If you do, it is not horrible. It just delays your case a bit. Have more evidence of meeting ready to go just in case, then you can reply quickly if you should happen to get one. There is info about proof of meeting evidence in the VJ guide here > http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

Copies of all airline boarding passes, train passes, itineraries, hotel receipts, passport stamps (make sure you can read the dates on the stamps), and other documentary evidence that you have met within the last two years. You may want to highlight or place post-it notes indicating the dates and locations on the copies (to make the adjudication easier) for the person reviewing your file.
